  3. “Even a moment’s disruption can have devastating effects on power sensitive customers such as internet service providers, data centres, wireless telecommunications networks, on line traders, computer chip manufacturers and medical research centres. For these customers, power disruptions can result in data corruption, burned circuit boards, component damage, file corruption and lost customers.”- “Electrical Power Interruption Cost Estimates for Individual Industries, Sectors and US Economy” February 2002, US Dept of Energy, Office of Power Technologies • “The system and its data can become corrupt as a result of power failure…a UPS can protect the system if power is lost. A UPS usually provides…temporary power which may be enough to permit a graceful shutdown”- Special Publication 800-34 Contingency Planning Guide for Information Technology Systems, National Institute of Standards and Technology, June 2002

  14. Boost Normal Control Inverter OUT Buck IN Battery Safety Relay Topology Line Interactive AVR relay

  15. Topology A Line Interactive UPS provides: • Battery back up and voltage stabilisation • As well as providing back up power from the battery when the mains fails, the UPS filters the mains during normal operation, regulating the incoming voltage • Cost effective UPS protection • Lower price compared to on line double conversion UPS

  16. Topology A Line Interactive UPS provides: • Small break in power • During the switch from mains to battery, there is a small loss of power to the load (typically 2-4ms, not affecting most computer type loads) • Medium degree of protection • When compared to on line (double conversion) UPS

  17. Unique Selling Points • Excellent high voltage protection The Match UPS will protect itself and the supported load up to 350V AC. Most UPS will damage themselves or the load if the inout voltage exceeds 300V Low ‘green’ power consumption Compared to other line interactive UPS, the power consumption is extremely low during normal operation

  18. Unique Selling Points • Optimised sinewave output The output waveform is sinusoidal with a linear load, and with a crest load is slightly flattened. This avoids high current peaks on the electronics and the battery, and still provides high efficiency This is the optimal solution between sinewave and stepwave UPS outputs. Stepwave UPS may cause some electronic equipment to malfunction

  19. Additional USPs, Match 2200 & 3000 • Extremely wide input voltage window At 165-275V (500-1500VA) and 140-305V (2200 & 3000VA), the output voltage is limited to 190-254V. This minimises the need for battery use, extending battery life Battery charging even at 140VAC Even in poor mains conditions there is a fast recovery of battery power, increasing up time and battery life High battery recharge current When additional battery packs are connected, the charger current automatically increases to 10A, ensuring much faster recharge time

  20. Additional USPs, Match 2200 & 3000 • Deep battery calibration test • The actual battery capacity can be tested and calibrated. This ensures the predicted runtime stays accurate throughout the life of the UPS • Load dependent end of discharge • If the discharge time is shorter, batteries may be discharged deeper. This feature ensures maximum runtime is given at any load level, without the risk of damaging the battery during longer power failures

  21. Key Features • Automatic voltage regulation • The buck and boost function minimises battery operation, increasing the battery life. With an input voltage window of 165-275V, the output voltage is limited to 190-254V • Crest factor input acceptance 6:1 • The Match is especially suited for computer loads, and no oversizing is necessary

  22. Key Features • Battery start (cold start) • Allows the UPS to be switched on without mains power, for mobile applications or to perform a quick action during a mains failure • Extended communication • RS232, SNMP and contact interface communication (plug in options)

  23. Key Features – Superior Battery Management Automatic monthly battery testing Alerts the user that the batteries need to be replaced The UPS keeps running in normal operation over the test, rather than switching to battery. If the battery is damaged or empty, the load is still supported Safe battery test For areas with poor mains, ensures a faster recharge time than with float charge only Automatic boost charge Means that loads even in very poor mains areas can be supported more than once during a shift 2 hours battery recharge time Charger off at end of discharge period Prevents battery depletion beyond recharge capability Lowest battery temperature during mains operation The electronic design of the UPS means the battery temperature is very low, increasing battery life On battery at less than 5% load, the UPS performs an automatic shutdown to protect the battery. This function can be disabled No load shutdown

  24. Applications PCs Servers Workstations Hubs, switches and routers Cash register systems (EPOS) Fax, modem, ISDN adaptors

  25. NetPro 19 inch Rackmount

  26. Automatic Bypass Inverter Rectifier IN OUT Battery Safety Relay Topology On Line Double Conversion

  27. Topology True On Line Double Conversion provides: • Voltage and frequency independence • As well as providing back up power when the mains fails, the UPS filters the mains during normal operation, stabilising the incoming voltage and frequency and generating a new, clean output to the load • Highest level of protection • Greater protection when compared to off line and line interactive UPS

  28. Unique Selling Points • No UPS inrush current Inrush currents result in voltage dips on the mains, which can disturb other users or even blow the fuse of the distribution board No load inrush current When the UPS is switched on, the bypass is disabled for a short time. This avoids high inrush currents from the load passing through the bypass

  29. Unique Selling Points • Deep battery calibration test • The actual battery capacity can be tested and calibrated. This ensures the predicted runtime stays accurate throughout the life of the UPS • Load dependent end of discharge • If the discharge time is shorter, batteries may be discharged deeper. This feature ensures maximum runtime is given at any load level, without the risk of damaging the battery during lengthy mains failures

  30. Key Features • Wide AC input voltage window • Minimises the need for battery operation, extending the battery life • Crest factor handling of 6:1 • Well suited for computer loads, with no need for oversizing • Power factor one input • Maximum power with minimum current, meaning less mains distortion and no risk of feeding disturbances back to the mains

  31. Key Features • Automatic bypass switch • In the event of an overload on the UPS, there is a no break transfer to mains so the load is continuously supported • Extended communication • RS232, SNMP and contact interface communication • Bypass operation enable/disable • If it’s not desirable to transfer the load to bypass (if there is unstable bypass voltage or frequency) this feature can be disabled

  32. Key Features – Superior Battery Management Automatic monthly battery testing Alerts the user that the batteries need to be replaced Deep battery calibration test Measures the actual value of the battery For areas with poor mains, ensures a faster recharge time than with float charge only Automatic boost charge Means that loads even in very poor mains areas can be supported more than once during a shift 1.5 hour battery recharge time Charger off at end of discharge period Prevents battery depletion beyond recharge capability Temperature compensated battery charging Prevents over- or under-charging of the battery, increasing the battery life Load dependent end of discharge Protects the battery whilst still ensuring maximum autonomy can be provided to even small loads On battery at less than 5% load, the UPS performs an automatic shutdown to protect the battery. This function can be disabled No load shutdown

  33. Additional Key Features 2000-4000VA • Liquid crystal display • Immediately visible information on input voltage, load level, remaining autonomy time, status and alarm settings • Adjustable frequency tracking range • The UPS can be optimised for use with a generator • Programmable outlets (3 & 4kVA) • Allows the user to switch off less critical loads during a power failure, to provide maximum uptime for more critical loads

  34. Applications Rackmount servers for internet Local/Wide area networks Cad/Cam stations Telecom clusters Telecommunication equipment Any mission critical application
