  1. VARDAN live efficient Types of Sports Injuries and their cure As the name suggests, sports injuries occur when we indulge in some kind of sport or exercises. There can be various reasons that contribute to sports injuries such as lack of conditioning, insufficient warm-up activities, an improper technique and overtraining. Warm up activities play a significant role in making a match or exercise session less likely to be resulting in an injury. Tears, bruises, sprains and strains are the commonly occurring sports injuries. Sometimes, sports injuries can be severe, resulting in a person to look for Pain Management Centre in Delhi. Chronic pain is a perpetual difficulty that can last from weeks to years. Hence, a sports injury should never go unattended. Here are a few types of Sports Injuries – Ankle Injuries Ankle injuries are very common not only in sports but in everyday activities. Walking/running/dancing on a slanted surface, tripping over an object can also cause an intense ankle injury. However, studies suggest that half of the ankle injuries occur during an athletic activity. The reason for an ankle injury taking place is because the ligaments that support the ankle joint, get overstretched. The intensity of ankle sprains ranges from mild to severe. In cases of a mild sprain, using an icepack, elevating, compressing and resting may help recover, but if the sprain is beyond mild then medication is recommended. Muscle Strain A strain on muscle is the most common occurrence in an athlete’s life. Muscle pull and muscle tear come under muscle strains. The causes can be sudden heavy lifting, a sudden change in posture, overstretching and so on. Strain in muscle can result in weakness, swelling, inability to use that particular body part and excruciating pain. Minor muscle strains can be treated at home using icepacks few times a day, getting proper rest, applying medicated sprays and ointments etc. But a severe muscle tear requires treatment by a doctor. 16 A, Ring Road, Lajpat Nagar - IV, New Delhi - 110024, India Email ID: vardan@timesgroup.com Contact No. +91 11 43580720-22
