    • Pencils (from front table)
    • Erasers (from front table)
  • Clip sheets of newsprint into your clipboard.
  • Take off one shoe and put in on the table in front of you.
  • Sit quietly until more directions are given

  • Drawing using line to follow visible edges of a shape
  • Emphasize mass and volume over detail
  • Important! Not all contours exist along the outlines of a subject.
  • Observational skills! Draw truly what the eye is seeing.

  • Grab a pencil. Without looking at your paper, create a contour drawing of your shoe.
  • NEW TWIST: Eyes must be closed!! You must scan your non-drawing hand along the contours of your shoe and draw what you feel.

    • Bird’s eye view (from above)
    • On a diagonal
    • Straight on (from the front: toe is closest to you, heel is farthest away)
