  3. What is CSO? • Congress of Student Organizations • Leadership umbrella as well as serves for student organizations. • CSO Commissioner • Student organization resource and advocate. • CSO Commission Members • SAO Staff www.ndsu.edu/sg

CSO Requirements • Enrollment on OrgSync • Officer paperwork completed with enrollment • One Large Group per Semester (Fall & Spring) • Officer Roster Card • Available in SAO/SG, Due each time new officers are elected. – Bright GREEN form • Community Service Paperwork • Completed with the Volunteer Network BSC, Link available on OrgSync, Due on April 30, 2010 • Constitution (Renewed every 3 years) • Check organization mailbox weekly & empty www.ndsu.edu/sg

Officer Eligibility Requirements • Undergraduates must be enrolled in 9 credits • Graduates must be enrolled in 6 credits • All must have a minimum 2.0 GPA & have no conduct issues with the university. • By not completing CSO Paperwork, this will also make you ineligible for a leadership role. www.ndsu.edu/sg

Officer Eligibility Checks • Ranelle Ingalls • Associate Registrar • Registration & Records needs AT LEAST 5 days to process requests • Send one of the three recognized leaders or the NDSU Advisor to Ranelle to request the information, so NDSU knows the request will be honored and the information will be kept safe. • Students – work to keep ID numbers and information safe.  Only sign off on a form if you are assured that your information will be kept safe. • Appropriate distribution of private information. • What is considered FERPA protected and what is directory information? www.ndsu.edu/sg

  7. Officer Paperwork • All paperwork on OrgSync • By enrolling in OrgSync and listing yourself as an officer in your organization’s portal you complete the required paperwork. • Checked 1 time yearly, due Sept 30 • Advisor paperwork • Updated yearly in January www.ndsu.edu/sg

Join Organizations Join Organizations • Login to www.ndsu.edu/sg • Select “Join an Org” • Join your organizations & be sure to join CSO! • Request to Join OR Enter Organization Password* • *CSO Exec has passwords • Go to www.ndsu.edu/sg • Select ‘Login’ at the top right • Click ‘Register’ at the bottom • Find NDSU • Complete Account Information • Complete Profile Information www.ndsu.edu/sg

  10. Process • Fill out budget information • Dates, locations, number of people, etc. • Submit budget by email • NDSU.SGFinance@NDSU.EDU • Sign up for budget hearing • Attend budget hearing • Appeal (if necessary) to Senate www.ndsu.edu/sg

  11. Budget Templates • Budget templates are located on OrgSync and have been sent out to all organizations • OrgSync Your Org  Files  Finance www.ndsu.edu/sg

General Budget • Budgets Due Friday February 5th! • Late budgets will be docked 10% everyday they are late up to 50% • Budgets should be sent by email to: NDSU.SGFinance@NDSU.EDU • If you are only requesting a standard budget you only need to send an email with the Title “Standard Budget” and the name of your organization www.ndsu.edu/sg

  13. Fundraising • All allocations except the standard operating expenses have a 15% fundraising fee reduction • Do not need to provide fundraising totals • Only need to provide bank name not account information www.ndsu.edu/sg

Standard Operating Expenses • All Tier II organizations in good standing are eligible • Provides $175 to be used for operating expenses (i.e. programming events, advertising, website costs, displays, public speaker costs, postage, office supplies, etc. ) • Funds cannot be used for food, transportation, or lodging, etc. www.ndsu.edu/sg

  15. Non-Competitive Orgs • Will only be funded for one non-competitive conference • Will be able to send 6 people to the conference • Expenses covered include travel, lodging, and registration • More information is provided in the Finance Guidelines www.ndsu.edu/sg

Competitive Orgs • Will only fund the minimum number of players to be competitive, if not defined one team plus one-half team • Funding for the five least expensive away and five home games • IF a group is requesting more than 5 away or 5 home games, written justification must be submitted from the league, commission, or governing body of the team www.ndsu.edu/sg

Student Body Elections • Important Dates: • March 8: Applications for candidacy are due by 5pm • March 10: Informational Meetings for candidates • March 21: Campaigning Opens (12pm) and Campaign Team Rosters are due by 8a, • April 5:On-line voting opens at 8am • April 6: On-line voting closed at 5pm • April 6: Candidates' Financial Statements are due by 6pm www.ndsu.edu/sg

Student Body Elections • Campaigning by any medium before March 21 will result in a loss of votes. • FaceBook pages or any other websites may be created but must be kept locked from public view until campaigning opens. • For the President/VP ticket, one of the candidates must attend the informational meeting on March 10th. • President/Vice President tickets can set up times to meet with organizations prior to the opening of campaigning as long as the meetings they attend of the organizations are during the official campaigning days. www.ndsu.edu/sg

MAT Bus Advertisements • Accepting (4) Student Organization's recurring semester event publicity • Design must be 11 in x 17 in and laminated if chosen •  Event(s) or meeting(s) must be open to the entire student body of NDSU • The publicity will be up for the entire semester, so your publicity must be relevant and timely for the entire duration. • Please submit your designs by February 8th at 5 PM,  the Student Organizations that are approved will be notified within the following week. • Along with your design, please submit a statement on why your how the NDSU student body will benefit as a result or your event and this additional publicity opportunity. • You may submit those to: ndsu.cso@ndsu.edu www.ndsu.edu/sg

What is LIVE REAL Mentor Training? • What is a “drink”? • How much do NDSU students actually drink? • What does tolerance really mean? • How long does it take to sober up? • What are the signs of alcohol poisoning? • What can you do as a student to help someone struggling with alcohol or drug use?

LIVE REAL Mentors... • are sources of information about alcohol and other drug use • challenge misconceptions about AOD use • serve as a source of referral for anyone struggling with AOD use • support peers who choose not to drink or make low-risk decisions about drinking

LRM Incentive Program • Recommended attendance: one member of each student org/semester • Incentive: • One drawing entry for every 10% of the members of a student organization that attend • Prizes (drawing will take place April 29th): • (7) $100 gift cards to the NDSU Bookstore or NDSU Dining Services • Grand Prize: $300 gift card to NDSU Dining Services
