  1. Five Points • THE PURPOSE OF PROPHECY • HOW PROPHECY IS PRESENTED IN SCRIPTURE • BIBLICAL SYMBOLOGY – WHY IS IT USED? • WHAT HAS BEEN PROPHESIED • OUR RESPONSE

  2. Gospel - eujaggevlion“good news” What is the Gospel? Acts 8 12But when they believed Philip, who was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Acts 19 8Paul entered the synagogue and for three months spoke out boldly, and argued persuasively about the kingdom of God. Acts 28 30Paul lived there two whole years at his own expense and welcomed all who came to him, 31proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.

  3. “…the name of Jesus Christ” Matthew 1 21And she will have a Son, and you shall name him Jesus (meaning ‘Salvation’), for he will save his people from their sins. John 3 16For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 2 Timothy 1 10but [the plan of God ] has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

  4. “…the kingdom of God” Romans 1 16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Philippians 1 27 Only, live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ...

  5. Narrative Narrative, parable and symbol… Ezekiel 37 21…Thus says the Lord God: I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from every quarter, and bring them to their own land. • Symbol Revelation 12 1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

  6. Heraldic Language Heraldic Description: 'On a field azure, a circle of twelve mullets, their points not touching.’ Symbolic Description: Against the background of blue sky, twelve golden stars form a circle, representing the union of the peoples of Europe. The number of stars is invariable, twelve being the symbol of perfection and entirety. (Source: The Services of the Commission)

  7. Bible Symbolism Biblical Symbology • Some examples: • Political upheavals are represented by earthquakes • Ruling powers are represented by celestial bodies, such as the sun and moon • Nations and political entities are represented by animals

  8. PIETER BRUEGEL THE ELDER - THE TOWER OF BABEL Pieter Bruegel

  9. EUROPE: MANY TONGUES, ONE VOICE Europe: Many Tongues…

  10. THE FRENCH REVOLUTION: AN EVENT WHICH SHOOK THE WORLD The French Revolution

  11. Political Earthquake Headlines of French newspapers (22/04/02) read, clockwise from top left: "No! a political earthquake"; "The shock"; "No"; "The bomb Le Pen"; "The earthquake"

  12. Nations as Beasts

  13. Europa “The woman (a common figure for a nation), shows that many nations have become one. The bull represents the strength that results from the union.”

  14. The Bible has prophesied: • The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire • How the Roman Empire would become the Holy Roman Empire • The continuation throughout history of the Roman Catholic Church • The influence of the Roman Church in world affairs, particularly in Europe. • The Eventual re-union of the European nations in a new ‘empire’ as it were, founded on the same principles as the Holy Roman Empire Bible Prophesy of Europe

  15. The Image of Daniel 2 37-38: You, O king, the king of kings—you are the head of gold. (Babylonian empire, BC 612-542) 39: After you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours… (Medo-Persian empire, BC 542-334) 39:…and yet a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over the whole earth. (Graeco-Macedonian empire, BC 344-146) 40: And there shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron; just as iron crushes and smashes everything, it shall crush and shatter all these.(Roman empire, BC 146-493, Holy Roman Empire AD 800-1806) 41: As you saw the feet and toes partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom; but some of the strength of iron shall be in it, as you saw the iron mixed with the clay.(Roman empire dissolved, the one remaining feature being the Roman Catholic Church, which endures to this day.) Daniel’s Image

  16. The 4th Beast Daniel 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it [was] diverse from all the beasts that [were] before it; and it had ten horns.

  17. Revelation 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4th Beast = beast of Revelation 17 • The 4th Beast of Daniel 7 is the beast of Revelation 17. • Both have 10 horns • Both persecute the servants of God • Both blaspheme God • Both are judged and destroyed by Christ when he returns.

Daniel’s Image

  20. “For the first time since the fall of the Roman Empire, we are uniting Europe ... not by force of arms, but on the basis of shared ideals and agreed common rules. The process of redrawing Europe's borders has begun in earnest and, like in Roman times, no-one can be sure exactly where it will end.” Romano Prodi (European Commission President) Prodi & Pope “…it is the Graeco-Roman civilisation which characterised them all, and, even more so, the same Christian culture. Yes, a common culture animated this great ensemble: it was faith. Can it not be said that it is faith, the Christian faith, the Catholic faith, that made Europe, to the extent of being like its soul? We are also persuaded that the solution of the question [of unity] calls for the creation of a unified mentality, and for the diffusion of a common culture. Without this, European unity cannot be reached.” Pope Paul VI, 1976

  21. 'Through the CCEE, [Council of European Episcopal Conferences] the Church will seek to give the continental community that 'added soul', thereby strengthening what could be called 'the soul of Europe'. Pope John Paul 2nd, 1998 The Pope

  22. Euro Coin France is refusing to recognise euro coins that the Vatican is stamping with the Pope on them, on the ground that Church and State should be separate, Libération reported. The coins, with the Pope’s face surrounded by stars representing the European Union, will be accepted throughout Italy when the single currency replaces 11 European currencies in 2002, the left-wing daily said. – The Times, October 22, 1998. (Taken from The Christadelphian, November 1998)

  23. Europe’s New Coin… Guess who’s had their way?

  24. 'The Common Market itself started under the inspiration of Catholic politicians… The European Commission Social Charter and the socialism of Jacques Delores are imbued with Catholic social doctrine. If European federalism triumphs, the European Commission will indeed be an empire. It will lack an emperor, but it will have the Pope…' Sunday Telegraph, 1991 ‘Now a Holy Roman Empire’?

  25. Babylonian Empire What have we seen?  Persian Empire  Grecian Empire  Roman Empire  Holy Roman Empire  Re-unification of Europe - COMING… GOD’S NEW WORLD ORDER

  26. Daniel 2: 44And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall this kingdom be left to another people. It shall crush all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever; 45just as you saw that a stone was cut from the mountain not by hands, and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. The great God has informed the king what shall be hereafter. The dream is certain, and its interpretation trustworthy. ‘Now a Holy Roman Empire’?
