Make sure there is adequate white space. What is Diabetes Type 2? This chronic condition impedes the body's ability to use the carbohydrates in food for energy. The result is elevated blood sugar which places the person at risk of serious medical conditions. Symptoms are subtle and most people do not realize they have it. Type 2 diabetes is typically attributable to lifestyle choices and the body still produce some insulin. Do you know the symptoms? Text/Audio Narration:

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. It occurs when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, called beta cells. Insulin must be administered daily via injections or insulin pump. Carbohydrate counting is a diet management tool useful for type 1 and 2 diabetes. Carbohydrate counting is taking the amount of carbohydrate in foods and using that information to help manage your blood sugar levels. Carb counting is a way to help balance your carbohydrate intake throughout the day. Carbs have a direct relation to blood sugar readings. Fruit, starchy vegetables (peas, corn, potato, beans), breads, cereals, grains, milk, and yogurt contain carbohydrates. However, fruits and vegetables cause less fluctuation in glucose levels. Breads, grains, and cereals can cause a spike in blood sugars so be aware.
