Arts in the Classroom Foster all multiple intelligences • Offer task rotations in a variety of subjects • Let children choose if they want to make a list, draw a picture, write a story—still content standard based • Implement different types of assessments for students to demonstrate their knowledge of content

Arts in the Classroom • Make time for arts • Don’t sacrifice art lessons when there is a time crunch • Schedule time in the classroom for art projects and lessons • Include structures of art in all subjects (reading, writing, math, social studies, science) • Integrate arts in reading through having the students act out or role play the stories • Allow students to stay after to finish projects • Try to play un-distracting music during activities

Arts in the Classroom • Foster Self-Expression/Creativity • Implement and be consistent with the rules of respect and accepting each other’s differences • When displaying or presenting students’ art works • Provide a safe and creative environment • Display teacher’s art work • Give positive feedback • Always consider zone of proximal development
