Armed Forces Challenge Description of Activity Led by the Army, there will be structured physical activities and challenges across the 3 days, including a day at the Folkestone barracks, an assault course and a physical fitness test Enjoy being pushed and challenged. Cost: £10 Max number: 40 Special Requirements/information You will need to have a good level of physical fitness. Leader: Mr Waitt

Woman in Black Description of Activity 3 day activity that includes creative writing surrounding the themes in The Woman in Black and a trip, Mon- Walk into Sandwich to do creative writing inspired by nature Tues- Trip to London to see performance of The Woman in Black Weds- Creative Writing Cost: £35 Max number: 40 (years 8, 9, 10 only) Special Requirements/information Leader: Mrs Dowle

  5. Hunt for Jack the Ripper Description of Activity ‘Jack the Ripper’ is a 3 days activity where you will focus on an investigation into the famous serial killer and his victims. This activity is a fantastic opportunity, particularly for Year 9 and 10 History students to enhance their knowledge on Crime and Punishment in Victorian Britain.   6. Photography, Art and Textiles Description of Activity Day 1 – Photography exercise inside and outside the school grounds. Photoshop images Printing onto fabric Day 2 - Free hand stitching Beading embellishing Batik Day 3 – Completion of work and mini exhibition and taking photos of exhibition Cost: £4.00 Max number: 30 Leader: Miss Zacharia

Coverack YHA, Cornwall Description of Activity This residential trip involves Art and Craft and Creative activities, with some gentle walking and sightseeing You will need; • Spirit • Willingness to work in a team • A Creative mind • Suitable outdoor clothing/trainers/ waterproofs Cost: £210 Max number: 14 Special Requirements/information This trip will leave on Saturday 19th July Leader: Mr Rhodes FULL – RESERVE LIST ONLY

History Trip to Belgium Description of Activity This 3 day residential trip involves visits to: Menin Gate Flanders Field Museum Tyne Cot Cemetery Theme Park * You will need a full British Passport and EHIC Cost: £215 Max number: 9 remaining Special Requirements/information This trip will leave on Monday 21st July Leader: Mrs Amess

  9. Sandwich Photo Challenge Description of Activity Monday – walk into Sandwich, tour the town (Bayside) with lunch on the quay. Tuesday – Walk to Gazen Salts Nature Reserve – lunch at the White Mill Wednesday – In school preparing photos and producing a guide book Cost: Free Max number: 60 Leader: Mr M. Smith

  10. FX Film Workshop Description of Activity You will work in 2 teams; Acting & Art/Animation, to create a short Medieval Fantasy film. Actors will work with Bruce over 3 days to shoot the scenes on green screen. Art team will work with Mr Taimar to make locations & effects. Cost: £6.00 Max number: 25 Special Requirements/information Be enthusiastic! This will be a lot of work to do in a short amount of time. Leader: Mr Taimar

Raspberry Pi and Robots Description of Activity Three different activities over three days: • Configure and program a Raspberry Pi and carry out a small project/s. • Build a lego robot and program it to carry out a range of tasks. • Create games using the visual programming language of Scratch.   12. Golf Description of Activity One Day of Coaching and Practice at Princes’ Golf Club. One Day of playing at Stonelees Golf Club One Day of activities and prize giving in school.   13. Two Day Activity If you choose this Activity it will run on Monday and Tuesday only and you will need to choose another activity for Wednesday

  14. Multi-Sports Competition Description of Activity You will need to enter as a team so that you can compete in a range of different sports over the three days. There will be a handicap system in place so that different age groups can compete against each other evenly. The team with the most points at the end of the two days wins!   15. Cricket Coaching Description of Activity Description of activity - A 2 day course aimed at improving skill, technique, game play and pure love for the game of cricket. The course will be delivered by outside coaches including a current or ex-professional cricketer. Cost: £45 Max number: At least 20 needed Special Requirements/information Any age or ability level may attend, and no special cricketing equipment is required.   17. Thorpe Park Day Trip Description of Activity A fun filled day at one of the UK’s top theme parks! Cost: £28 Max number: 150 Special Requirements/information You can do this activity on Monday or Tuesday Leaders: Miss Curling FULL ON BOTH DAYS

  18. Mountain Biking to Fowlmead Description of Activity Cycle from school to Fowlmead country park for a 2 hour coached session on mountain bike trails. Cost: £9.00 (Monday and Tuesday inc. assault course) £7.50 (Wednesday) Max number: 15 Special Requirements/information • You will need a well maintained mountain bike and cycle helmet to take part. • You will need to be able to get your bike to school on the morning of the activity. • Monday and Tuesday will include and assault course activity!!   19. Go BALListic at Baypoint Be taught by professional coaches in BALL skills, this will include Hand ball Seated volley ball Squash Use of inflatable football pitch ….   20. Rare Breeds Centre Description of Activity A visit to the newly improved Rare Breeds centre at Sandwich followed by desk top activities back at school.   21. Power Lifting Description of Activity If you are interested in improving your strength for any reason then come along to Sandwich Tech Powerlifting Club during ACW week to see if its something that you might like to do next year. Access to competition-standard equipment and the support and advice of many keen and experienced lifters. STSPLC is a friendly and encouraging club and welcomes interest from anyone regardless of previous experience or current strength. If you are interested then sign up for a day during ACW.   23. Day Trip to France Description of Activity Stop off at a French market followed by a trip to Nausicaa Sea Life Centre in Boulogne-sur-mer. Finishing the day at Cité Europe Shopping Centre.   24. Revolution Skate Park Description of Activity A double session at revolution skate park to experience alternative sports. Cost: £21 Max number: 14 Special Requirements/information You will need a scooter or skateboard and a helmet.   25. Joss Bay Description of Activity Visit Kent’s best beach for a day of fun activities. Bring a sketch book and be creative OR take part in some fun beach activities such as Beach volley ball, sand cricket etc. The beach has permanent lifeguards and toilet facilities. There is Parking at top of bay and it is a safe beach to visit. Students can bring a picnic or there is a café to purchase food. Fingers crossed for a sunny day!!!   26. Buckmore Park Go-Karting Description of Activity Can you beat the lap record of 39 seconds? Could you be the next Lewis Hamilton?   27. Circus and Magic Workshop Description of Activity An outside company called SPLATS will deliver a workshop, teaching students various circus and magic skills. These skills include spinning plates, juggling and using a diablo. There will also be an opportunity for students to build these skills so they can perform their own show at the end. Cost: £10.00 Max number: 40 Special Requirements/information Students will need to wear sensible shoes and must bring a drink.   28. Making Frog Beanbags Description of Activity You will be making frog beanbags – perfect to give as gifts or to keep for yourself. This activity is suitable for those seeking a quiet day of sewing.   29. Kite Making Description of Activity In the morning you will review a number of designs before choosing the one you would like you make. You will then have opportunity to put your kite through its paces in the afternoon.   31. Decorative Cake Making Description of Activity A day of creating and baking. You will decorate and wrap your creations – which you get to eat when finished!!   32. Making Friendship Bracelets FULL MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY SPACES ON TUESDAY ONLY Description of Activity Spend a day learning how to make knotted bracelets, beaded bands and charm brackets. Activity Fun Day Description of Activity A fun activity day Climbing and Zorbing at Lower Grange Farm Activity Centre, Maidstone. * Experience Kent’s newest and biggest climbing wall. * Enjoy zorbing inside a gigantic, bouncy, transparent ball down a giant inflatable ramp. * Plus some other great outdoor activities including Geocaching and Frisbee Golf. * Fully trained and qualified instructors. * All safety equipment provided Cost: £28 Max number: 29 Special Requirements/information You can do this activity on Monday or Tuesday Wear rough, casual clothes. Making Holiday Jewellery Description of Activity Make beaded jewellery for your holidays or as a gift to yourself or a friend Cost: Free Max number: 20 Special Requirements/information If you have any broken beaded jewellery bring it with you.   35. Horse Riding Description of Activity Student will learn about horse care and management over the course of either 1, 2 or 3 days (depending on how many days they would like to join in for). This will be at a basic level and is aimed at students that would love to spend their time around horses learning about how to look after them. Activities each day are at a local stables and will include stable and yard management and having a ride (until lunchtime) and then reflecting on their day in an afternoon session, printing off photos etc. Cost: £30 (per day) Max number: 20 Special Requirements/information The cost includes transport and all the activities but no lunch.   37. Indoor Surfing Description of Activity Based at STS, Learn to surf using the Indo balance boards and master skills taught by the guys from Joss Bay Surf School.   39. Water Sports Description of Activity Why not try sailing and raft building at Dover Water Sports Centre. Come and join us on the beach for a fun filled day out. You will be sailing 2 man boats and building rafts then racing to see who sinks first. Hopefully the sun will join us along with some wind!!!!!!   41. Mr Smith’s ‘Goes to Town’ Description of Activity Grab your backpack and your packed lunch as you Join Mr Smith as he 'GOES TO TOWN'. Our day starts off in a luxury minibus up to London where we will then take in TWO West End Theatre Shows including 'LET THE RIGHT ONE IN' at the Apollo Theatre. We'll also be noshing down to noodles in China Town and taking in a MYSTERY show. This will be a late return and not for pupils who get scared easily.   42. Musical Magic Description of Activity Enter the world of classic and contemporary Hollywood musicals. Possible movies include, Calamity Jane, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, South Pacific as well as Tangled, The Lion King and Les Miserables. Takes place in the school cinema.   43. Mr Smith’s ‘Strike!’ Description of Activity Strike with Mr Smith! Get a team of four together and join Mr Smith as he goes STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! We'll be heading off to take part in the first ever STS TEN PIN BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP. Come up with a name for your team and battle it out for the prestigious trophy before we SPLIT for the summer.
