  2. Tomb Raiders Areas of learning As Historians we will be studying a past society called Ancient Egypt. We will be looking at factual evidence of the pyramids, mummies, pharaohs and artefacts such as tomb paintings to enable us to find out the secrets of civilisation that began over 5000 years ago. We will be finding out about Howard Carter – the original tomb raider. We will be exploring the art and statues and asking what we can find out about the past from these things. As Geographers we will be studying where Egypt is – describing the locality using geographical vocabulary.We will learn about the Egyptian way of life, particularly the food and farming. We will learn how the River Nile was important for farmers and its relationship to the three Egyptian seasons. As Designers we will design and make a food product. We will be exploring bread – a food that has been around since ancient times. We will design and make our own bread. As Artists we will be working with cla yto make Egyptian death masks pictures as well as using digital images to add text and other graphics as packaging for our bread product. We will visit a museum to view artefacts andf further deepen our knowledge of Ancient Egypt. Enterprise Spiritual and moral ICT As enterprising people we will:  Create recounts and reports on the findings of Howard Carter. We will have a race to be the first to print the news of finding King Tutankhamen's tomb. We will also be using our knowledge of the Egyptian period as a basis for other creative writing. We will be developing our research skills when looking for suitable web sites about this period in history. Yr 4: We will develop our skills of combining text and images to produce documents as well as producing multimedia presentations based on different aspects of Ancient Egypt. Yr 3: We will be developing our skills of combining images and searching the internet to complete tasks related to the topic. We will also be looking in detail at how to use Microsoft Word correctly in order to support all our learning. In our spiritual and moral development we will: Explore the images of the Ancient Egyptians and ask what some of the statues and symbols meant to them. We will also discover why they buried their pharaohs as mummies and why they thought they should be buried with their riches. We will learn about the actual ritual of burial and the mummification process.
