3. Anthropic Principle: • These unrelated and seemingly random constants are exactly what is required in a universe to produce life …….thus……. Apparently the universe was designed to support life, specifically on earth

4. Expanding Universe: • If one considers the Big Bang theory: -If rate (of expansion) had been reduced by 1 in one million million, the universe would have collapsed before temp could have reached below 10,000 degrees. Big Bang would have been 1 sec. old Cosmos 1 millionth of its current size -BUT if it had been INCREASED by .1% -an expansion thousands of times faster than that which is observed today would have resulted in an explosion preventing life

6. Strong Nuclear Force: • Binds together protons & neutrons in nucleus • With 13% increase or 31% decrease -universe consisting of nothing but hydrogen

7. Gravitational Acceleration: • If increased by a miniscule amount -smaller no. of atoms required to crush the core of a star to make a “nuclear furnace” -stars (ie: our sun)-mass of small planet (2 km diameter) -less nuclear fuel present; stars would burn up in about a year

8. Temperature • In order for life to form: -Only 1-2 % of the entire temperature range must be present Due to: -distance from sun -size of planet -rotational speed -extreme-preventing atmosphere

9. Why?! • Pure chance -probability is not an issue • Probability -matter tended to change to the current state in which it exists -Chaotic Cosmology Theory: started off very disorganized, but physical processes caused it to develop into a very smooth state overall • Logical necessity -only 1 set of consistent laws in nature -”all logically possible universes must obey the same physics” • Multiple universes -many universes exist, each with different constants -the one in which man lives happened to have the correct constants for life -universes could be related through space or time as well as be utterly disconnected • Purposeful, intelligent design -a creator unrestrained by physical laws and limitations -transcendent of this universe

10. The only possible conclusion: • 1st: Chance is not logical; the probability is next to impossible • 2nd: That matter changed from a disorganized state to a more organized is not observed in science & directly opposes the second law of thermodynamics/entropy • 3rd: Even if only set of constants was required, why would they be precisely what is required to create & sustain life? • 4th: Why would these multiple universes exist?
