  2. How do you define blood cancer? The cause of cancer is a malfunction in the growth of cells and their behaviour. In a healthy, healthy body fresh white blood cells frequently produced to replace the old dead ones. The overproduction of cells called white within the bone marrow causes blood cancers.

  3. How many types of blood cancers exist? There are three types of blood cancers: Leukemia Leukemia is a cancer that affects white blood cells, or cells that turn into the white blood cells. Leukemia blocks the white blood cells to fight infection within the body. It's the most frequent blood cancer among children younger than 15 years old

  4. Lymphoma Lymphoma refers to cancer that affects the lymphatic system (an important component in the immune system) , specifically lymph nodes. It is a form of white blood cells known as lymphocytes. The type that doctors are knowledgeable most about is Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

  5. Myeloma Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells which are lymphocytes which create antibodies to guard against infection. Myeloma can affect your body's immune system, which makes it vulnerable to infections.

  6. Who is at risk for blood cancer? The risk factors associated with blood cancer aren't completely known, but it is thought that blood cancers result through a combination of environmental and genetic causes. The use of tobacco, exposure to radiation as well as exposure to chemicals like benzene (an extensively employed industrial chemical) have been all associated with increased chances of certain types of cancer that affect blood vessels.

  7. What are the signs for blood cancer? The symptoms of blood cancer can vary depending on the disease, but usually will include: • Fever • Chills • Fatigue • Weakness • Joint and bone pain • Weight loss
