  3. Customs and Courtesies: Greetings • Saluting • How? • When/Where? • Verbal Greeting • Given with a salute or inside when not saluting. • Ex: Good Morning, (Sir/Ma’am) • Who? • POC on Uniform Days and Officers always.

  4. Customs and Courtesies: Calling the Room to Attention • When? • Called to attention for POC on LLAB days and always called for officers. • Called when the highest ranking individual enters or leaves the room. • How? • “Room Tench Hut!” • Rest of the room comes to attention

  5. Customs and Courtesies: The Flag • The American Flag is a symbol of freedom and prosperity and deserves your utmost respect. • Salute the Flag when passing • Reveille and Retreat

  6. Customs and Courtesies: POC/GMC Interaction • POC should be treated as higher ranking officers when in uniform. • Render all proper salutes and verbal greetings and call the room when appropriate • On non-uniform days POC/GMC are encouraged to get to know each other on a more personal level

  7. Customs and Courtesies: Decorum around the Detachment • Be neatly dressed • Up to grooming standards • Respectful of officers and enlisted personnel at all times

  8. Customs and Courtesies: What’s the Point? • Chain of Command • Respect for Superiors • Attention to detail • Situational Awareness • If you can’t master simple customs and courtesies then how can they AF trust you to fly a jet?

  9. Uniforms: Short Sleeve Uniform (SSU) • Cover: • Proper placement inside and outside • Clean and lint free • Shirt: • Cleaned, Pressed, Lint free, Iron sleeves • Nametag on right side. Use a backer for nametag. • Shirt garters and V-neck undershirts • Pants: • Cleaned, Pressed, Lint free, Ironed • Belt/Gig Line • Properly hemmed

  10. Uniforms: SSU cont. • Shoes • Shiny all over but especially toe and heel • When? • Worn as semi-formal attire

  11. Uniforms: Service Dress Uniform (SDU) • Tie • Neat and Professional (double Windsor) • Jacket • ‘US’ pins 1 inch up on collar and centered • Ribbons • Lint and cable free • When • Slightly more formal than SSU

  12. Uniforms: Battle Dress Uniforms (BDU) • Blouse • Cleaned, pressed, lint and cable free • Collar ironed, pockets buttoned • Pants • Bloused tightly above boots • Cover • Proper placement inside and outside • Cardboard/Starch • Boots

  13. Uniforms: Physical Training Uniform (PTU) • Neat looking. • Shirt tucked in. • Laces tucked in.

  14. Uniforms: Why should I care? • Safety • Attention to detail (training) • Pride/Excellence in all we do • Leadership (setting the example for excellence) • AF Image • AF Heritage
