Why is Attendance Important?

  • Research shows that students who attend school each day:
    • Get better grades
    • Learn more
    • Graduate on time, with their class
    • Are less likely to go to prison

  • Excused absences: illness, medical/dental, death of relative, court appearance. Parent must call to excuse within three days.
  • Consequences for tardies and absences:
    • Short term: Missing class instruction and class work time
    • Missing homework assignments and opportunity to turn in homework assignments for credit, ATS, In house, Suspension
    • Long term: Not ready for quizzes or tests, SARB, unable to pass classes, ineligible for graduation, or ineligible to participate in graduation ceremony due to excessive truancies
