  3. Biography Marc Brown grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. He drew cartoons for his school newspaper. He liked it so much that he went to art school for college. He had many jobs before he became an author. He came up with the idea for Arthur when his son asked him to make up a bedtime story about a weird animal. Home
