WORKSHOP CHAPLAIN
Welcome to the CHAPLAINS’workshop training. Congratulations on being selected to serve as your chapter’s chaplain and thank you for saying “yes”.
The Office of Chaplain • is a good starting point to learn what it’s like to serve your chapter as an officer • Repeating chaplains know how rewarding it can be
Responsibilities of the Office • Read a selected scripture at each meeting • Lead the chapter in prayer at each meeting • Participate in the ceremony of initiation It’s an easy job, so relax and enjoy.
DEVOTIONS • Stand (if you are able) to give the devotion • Use any translation of The Bible containing both the Old and New Testaments • Cite book, chapter and verse(s) to be read • Read the scripture • Read or recite the P.E.O. prayer for a chapter meeting • Conclude the prayer by leading the chapter in reciting the Lord’s Prayer (KJV wording) • Any thoughts, comments or remarks are made during “Remarks for the good of the chapter”
CEREMONY OF INITIATION • Respond to Faith, Love, Purity and Justice with a scripture • Do not raise ribbon during response • Raise ribbon during recitation of attributes of “Truth” • Prayer used during COI is different than opening of chapter meeting • Prayer may be memorized or read • If ceremony is memorized, card can still be used for prayer; to be held in left hand throughout ceremony
