  1. PAPER 3 SECTION BQUESTION NO.4

  2. THINGS TO REMEMBER 1. Start writting the report by identifythe manipulated and responding variable. 2. Inference: Cause and effect (of the manipulated and responding variable) 3. Hypothesis: ( manipulated variable ) Increase / Decrease, then ( responding variable) increase / decrease 4. Aim: To investigate the relationship between ( manipulated variable) and (responding variable).

  3. THINGS TO REMEMBER 5. Apparatus: Don’t Forget meter rule, stop watch etc 6. Procedure: Must mention manipulated quantity, must mention method of measuring responding variable. 7. Datamust have at least 5 set. 8. Tabulatedata and analyse data : must include UNITS.

  4. Q.4 SECTION B : [ 12 MARKS ] Diagram 4.1 shows Jason taking a shower on a very cold morning. After the water heater is switched on for a while, he still feels cold. Diagram 4.2 shows that Jason no longer feels cold after the temperature control knob on the heater is turned. Diagram 4.1 Diagram 4.2

  5. *(c) (ii) VARIABLES MANIPULATED VARIABLES: THE ELECTRIC CURRENT (1 M) RESPONDING VARIABLES: THE INCREASE IN TEMPERATURE CONSTANT VARIABLES: THE VOLUME OF THE WATER / TIME OF HEATING / LENGTH OF WIRE / DIAMETER OF WIRE (2 M)

  6. (a) INFERENCE THE TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER DEPENDSON THE ELECTRIC CURRENT THE ELECTRIC CURRENT AFFECT THE TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER OR (3 M)

  7. (b) HYPOTHESIS THE HIGHER THE ELECTRIC CURRENT, THE HIGHER THE TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER (4 M)

  8. (C) (i) THE AIM TO INVESTIGATE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ELECTRIC CURRENT AND THE TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER (5 M)

  9. (C) (iii) LIST OF APPARATUS AND MATERIALS AMMETER , BEAKER, IMMERSION HEATER , THERMOMETER, POWER PACK , CONNECTING WIRE, RHEOSTAT, WATER AND STOPWATCH (6 M)

  10. (C) (iv) ARRANGEMENT OF APPARATUS SWITCH BEAKER RHEOSTAT AMMETER THERMOMETER WATER IMMERSION HEATER (7 M)

  11. (C) (v) PROCEDURE 1 CONTROL AND MEASURE THE(MV) RECORD THE INITIAL TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER,θ0. SWITCH IS ON AND ADJUST THE RHEOSTAT UNTIL THE AMMETER READING , I =0.2 A. (8 M)

  12. (C) (v) PROCEDURE 2 HOW TO MEASURE THE (RV) RECORD THE FINAL TEMPERATURE, θFafter 5 minutes by using the stop watch. (9 M) REPEAT 3 REPEAT THE EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT ELECTRIC CURRENT, 0.3 A, 0.4 A,0.5 A AND 0.6 A . (10 M)

  13. (C) (vi) TABULATE THE DATA INITIAL TEMPERATURE (Θ0 / 0C) FINAL TEMPERATURE (Θf / 0C) INCREASE IN TEMPERATURE (Θ/ 0C) INCREASE IN TEMPERATURE I/A 0.1 0.2 0.3 0.2 0.4 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.5 (11 M)
