  2. America was shocked by John Brown’s raid on the Arsenal at Harper’s Ferry in 1859.

  3. John Brown truly believed that slavery was evil.

  4. John Brown was a tall, fierce-eyed, Bible-quoting white man. He was a good man.

  5. John Brown was born into a deeply religious family in Torrington,Ct. in 1800.

  6. He raised his children (he would father 20 children) to read the Bible and believe in good over evil.

  7. He tried to free the enslaved African Americans.He fought for freedom.

  8. His two sons died fighting with him to free the slaves and he was hung on Dec.2,1859.

  9. Was John Brown a good man? Yes, I believe he was.
