    3. 1970 - 1979 1971 – First Safety, Health, and Environmental Policy adopted 1975 – DuPont Chemist George Levitt, Ph.D., discovers sulfonylureas, a family of environmentally compatible herbicides that revolutionize crop protection for farmers.

    4. 1980 - 1989 1983 – DuPont™ Tedlar® first used for backsheets of solar panels 1983 – DuPont initiated a program to manage land for wildlife enhancement 1988 – Responsible Care? adopted 1988 – DuPont calls for phase-out of chlorofluorocarbons, embarks on $500 million research effort to develop CFC replacements. 1988 – DuPont became a founding member of the Wildlife Habitat Council 1989 – First set of corporate goals for environmental improvement established 1989 – DuPont worked with the Carter Center to produce nylon-based filters used in Ghana and Nigeria to eradicate guinea worm disease 1989 – After ivory carving was banned globally, DuPont worked with 1,000 ivory carvers in Hong Kong to provide DuPont™ Corian® as a substitute.

    5. 1990 - 1995 1990 – Environmental Excellence Awards program started 1990 – Conoco, then a subsidiary of DuPont, committed to building only double-hulled tankers and convert entire fleet by 2000. 1990 – DuPont metallization pastes make solar modules more efficient and reliable 1992 – DuPont launches Suva® family of non-ozone-depleting HCFC and HFC products for automotive, residential and commercial applications. 1992 – First environmental report published 1992 – DuPont becomes a founding member of the World Business Council on Sustainable Development 1992 – DuPont establishes an Environmental Policy Committee on the Board of Directors. 1993 – DuPont was the first company to join the U.S. Department of Energy ClimateWise Program – commits to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% between 1990-2000. 1993 – DuPont Chemist George Levitt, Ph.D., receives the U.S. National Medal of Technology for discovery of sulfonylurea herbicides, a family of environmentally compatible herbicides. 1994 – DuPont sets “The Goal is Zero” for safety, health and environment commitment. 1994 – DuPont Land legacy program initiated

    6. 1996 - 2000 1997 – DuPont purchases 20% of Pioneer Hi-Bred 1999 – Discovery of BioPDO – Leads to host of applications for renewably-sourced products 1999 – Second set of sustainability goals established – including reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions and increasing use of renewable energy 1999 – DuPont purchases remaining 80% of Pioneer Hi-Bred 2000 – Sustainable Growth adopted as mission of DuPont 2000 – DuPont Packaging and Graphics introduces Cyrel® FAST, first solvent-free, dry, thermal plate processing system.

    7. 2001 - 2005 2001 – Endorsed the UN Global Compact 2001 – Revenues for DuPont products sold into solar industry is $13 million 2002 – DuPont received U.S. National Medal of Technology, awarded for policy and technology leadership in the phase-out and replacement of CFCs 2003 – LEED standards introduced for “Sustainable Building Design” increasing market demand for DuPont™ Tyvek® homewrap 2003 – DuPont announces sponsorship of the Kenya Chura Community Tissue Culture Banana Project, led by Africa Harvest to create a model for improving agricultural productivity and sustainability 2004 – DuPont names Linda J. Fisher first VP and Chief Sustainability Officer for the company 2005 – DuPont expands HFC portfolio by acquiring Isceon®, a new line of non- ozone-depleting retrofit refrigerants for use in stationary air conditioning and commercial refrigeration 2005 – DuPont donates technology valued at $4.8 million to Africa Nutritionally Enhanced Sorghum Project – funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

    8. 2006 - 2010 2006 – Sustainability goals for 2015 established, first time with market facing goals. 2006 – DuPont opens Loudon, Tennessee BioPDO facility 2007 – DuPont introduces Chromax Pro® waterborne coatings to enable auto collision shops to comply with Volatile Organic Compound regulations. 2007 – DuPont becomes a founding member of United States Climate Action Plan (USCAP) coalition and a member of Global Roundtable on Climate Change (GROCC) 2007 – DuPont and Honeywell announce joint development agreement to accelerate development and commercialization of advanced, low global warming refrigerants for automotive air conditioning. 2007 – DuPont launches Rynaxypyr®, a novel active insect control ingredient that provides protection against damaging pests and has an enhanced environmental profile. 2007 – DuPont is founding member of “Field to Market – the Keystone Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture 2008 – DuPont Packaging and Graphics introduces Cyrel® FAST Round, first solvent-free, dry thermal sleeve processing system. 2008 – DuPont Danisco Joint Venture for cellulosic ethanol 2008 – First renewably sourced products offered in the automotive industry 2008 -- Corian ® solid surfaces introduced with recycled content 2009 -- Zodiaq ® quartz surfaces introduced with recycled content 2009 – BP, Biofuels Joint Venture 2009 – DuPont revenues from products sold into the solar market are $500 million. 2009 – HFO1234yf, a new automotive refrigerant developed by DuPont and Honeywell, gains global acceptance by automotive manufacturers as a preferred alternative for refrigerants. 2010 – Expansion of BioPDO facilities
