  2. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM Who are covered under this program? Coverage is for all OFWs not over 60 years old How does one register as an OFW member? • For new SSS registrant (no SSS no. yet) Submit duly accomplished OW-1 at any nearest branch office (local or foreign) together with any of the following documents: • Driver’s License • Passport • Birth/Baptismal Certificate • Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) card

  3. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM How does one register as an OFW member? • For existing members (with SSS no.) Reactivate your membership by paying your contribution in any SSS accredited collecting agents Basic Instructions: 1. Indicate “Overseas Worker” as type of payor. 2. Always use your correct SSS number. A member should only have 1 account no.

  4. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM What will be the basis of SSS monthly contributions? Based on the monthly income earnings (in Peso) declared at the time of registration Minimum contribution Php520 OFW Contribution (effective 01 January 2007) Maximum contribution Php1,560

  5. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM When will payments be made? For OFW members contributions may be paid anytime during the year

  6. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM Where will payments be made? SSS contributions and loan amortizations may be paid through any of the following: SSS accredited banks/tie-ups SSS branch offices with tellering facilities Accredited remittance centers/ other collecting agents

  7. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM What are the benefits and loan privileges under the program? OFWs are entitled to various benefits and loan privileges PROVIDED qualifying conditions are met.

  10. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM SSS BENEFITS SICKNESS Daily cash allowance paid for the number of days a member is unable to work due to sickness or injury Qualifying Condition: With at least 3 months contri-bution within the 12-month period before the semester of sickness

  11. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM SSS BENEFITS MATERNITY Daily cash allowance granted for a female member who is unable to work due to childbirth or miscarriage Qualifying Condition: With at least 3 months contri-bution within the 12-month period before the semester of childbirth or miscarriage

  12. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM SSS BENEFITS DISABILITY Cash benefit granted to member who suffers partial or total permanent disability; paid either as pension or lump sum Qualifying Condition: With at least 1month contri-bution prior to the semester of contingency (>36 contri–pension; <36 contri-lum sum)

OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM SSS BENEFITS RETIREMENT Cash benefit granted to member who can no longer work due to old age; paid either as partial or lump sum (60 yrs old – optional / 65 yrs old – mandatory) Qualifying Condition: 120 contributions prior to semester of retirement (<120 contri – lump sum.)

  14. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM SSS BENEFITS FUNERAL GRANT Cash grant given to whoever paid the deceased member’s funeral expenses Qualifying Condition: Member must have paid at least 1 month contribution prior to the semester of contingency

  15. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM SSS BENEFITS DEATH Cash benefit paid to the beneficiaries of a deceased member; paid either in pension or lump sum; includes benefit for minor children (not exceeding 5) Qualifying Condition: <36 contribution – lump sum >36 contribution-pension

  16. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM SSS LOANS PROGRAM Salary Housing Business Qualifying Condition: With active membership –Salary - at least 6 months prior to filing of loan application Housing/Business– at least 12- month period

  17. OFW COVERAGE PROGRAM SSS LOANS PROGRAM Salary • Amount of loan depends on the average of the member’s salary credit period but not to exceed P24,000 • Payable within 2 years in 24 equal monthly installments • Interest rate is 10% per year; the interest for the first year is deducted in advance from the loan
