What do you want to do with your Law Degree • If not a law career, then what? • Statistics suggest that approx 60% of all graduate jobs do not ask for a specific degree subject • Consider your options- • www.sussex.ac.uk/careers/review.php • Look at jobs where a law degree is useful and unrelated jobs- www.prospects.ac.uk

Your Early Careers Assignment • Choose a legal career or job that interests you in which a law degree is useful. • You must research your choice using careers information which you can get from visiting the Careers and Employability Centre in Falmer House as well as other secondary sources. • Show evidence of your visit to the Careers and Employability Centre. • Write a report (500 words minimum) detailing the important aspects of the job using the following headings: PTO

  11. Suggested Assignment Content • 1. A brief job outline of what the job entails • 2. The skills, knowledge and qualities required for the role • 3. How well does it match your skills, personality, values and interests? • 4. What areas of experience or skill would you need to develop if you were going to pursue a career in this area? • 5. Are there any training application deadlines that you need to be aware of? • 6. What do you find appealing about this kind of job? • 7. What do you think you would find difficult or frustrating about this job? • 8. Upload your report onto Sussex Plus and then reflect on what you’ve learnt using an ‘Activity asset in Sussex Plus

  12. Sussex Plus – Using the Activity asset • Having completed your 500+ word report on a legal career and reviewed how you relate to it. You should upload it into Sussex Plus to use as evidence. • 2. You will be ultimately be expected to input your findings and research into a set of seminars later in the year. • 3. To help you focus on what you have found out we would like you to record and reflect on the key outcomes from your report using the ‘Activity Asset’ within Sussex Plus. • 3.
