  3. Golden Guardian 2008 Scenario Impacts • Magnitude 7.8 Catastrophic Southern California earthquake scenario • Approximately 200 mile section of San Andreas Fault

  4. Golden Guardian 2008 Scenario Impacts • Approximately 1,600 ignitions, 1,200 will not be contained • Hundreds of large fires merge into dozens of large conflagrations destroying hundreds of city blocks

  5. Golden Guardian 2008 Scenario Impacts • Thousands of buildings experience some form of collapse • Tens of thousands (perhaps as many as 100,000 people displaced from residences and businesses

  6. Golden Guardian 2008 Scenario Impacts • Damage to each of approximately 6,000 California highwaybridges in the region • Approximately 30 dams experience damage serious enough to cause safety concerns

  7. Golden Guardian 2008 Scenario Impacts • All utilities affected; Power, water, sewage, natural gas, petroleum pipelines and chemical facilities • Over a million gallons of household hazardous materials/waste require removal
