  5. NET: New ELL Teacher Fall 2011 Minneapolis ISD made a bold move to create a monthly learning cohort for all 50 new to the District EL Teachers. Careful planning went into the content and context of the meetings. The NET: New ELL Teachers cohort was born. The cohort began with a community dinner and welcome... and continued to meet for a full day of learning and collaboration, once a month during the 2011-12 school year.

  6. The MPLS NET Cohort is a meaningful opportunity to guide incoming teachers to maximize their capacity as 21st Century educators and Instructional strategists. The consistent cohort experience provides crucial time, training and support to build EL Strategists across MPS, envisioning a unified, collaborative and high impact approach to language acquisition and academic achievement. The New ELL Teacher (NET) cohort exists to provide a support system, framework, and launching space for the identity of ELL service in Minneapolis. 2011-12 school year Key Learning components Academic Framework Collaboration & Coteaching Culturally responsive learning environments 21st Century Student and professional engagement

  8. Mid-year Feedback Loop January 2012 NET: New EL Teachers were offered opportunities fr feedback on the process, learning, and cohort framework of delivery. Adjustment were made to include increase time for teams to plan and implement application of WIDA, Common Core, Technology and Academic Language into daily practice. Feedback indicated that the NET cohort had moved beyond a 'class' to an environment of support and unified purpose! best memorable dramatization
