  2. What I’ve been doing: • Manual Quad scan analysis

What I’ve been doing: • Take equation from parabola and equate to a different parameterisation, e.g. • where σ11 is the transverse beam size and k is the magnetic strength multiplied by length (from the fit) • Then use the parameters A and C and the s12 part of the transfer matrix, which is the length from the quad to screen and use:

What I’ve been doing: • The emittance comes out to ~14 pi.mm.mrad which is basically the same as the Matlab program. • Completed a preliminary GPT simulation in which the solenoid type scan gives no double minimum which suggests there is some problems with my experimental procedure when taking measurements on ALICE. • However the beam dimensions in set up are not accurate to the real beam, also other conditions may not be the same e.g. beam doesn’t travel down the components on axis.
