  1. Sharing of spectrum in the UHF band Jean-Jacques GUITOT ANFR Sub-Regional Workshop on Transition to Digital Broadcasting and Digital Dividend Belgrade, Serbia; 6-7 October 2011

  2. Sharing issues • 790-862 MHz (Ch61 to Ch 69) planned for Broadcasting Service in GE-06 • Others Services in some countries • 790-862 MHz DD for Mobile Service in European Union Countries • Co-channel sharing : large distance for coordination between BS and other services, avoided by EU Countries • Adjacent channels compatibility between Mobile / Fixed services and channels 60 and below

  3. Digital Dividend • 790 – 960 MHz : Steps for the introduction of Mobile Service in France • WRC-07 • 5.317A Those parts of the band 698-960 MHz in Region 2 and the band 790-960 MHz in Regions 1 and 3 which are allocated to the mobile service on a primary basis are identified for use by administrations wishing to implement International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT). See Resolutions 224 (Rev.WRC-07) and 749 (WRC-07). This identification does not preclude the use of these bands by any application of the services to which they are allocated and does not establish priority in the Radio Regulations. (WRC-07) • French national regulatory framework • Within the framework given by Law about the Future of TV, including the question of DD • National Table : allocation of the band to Mobile Service • Public tender for licensing in 790--862 MHz Band, closed December 2011 • Finance Law : includes procedure for solving interference difficulties encountered by DTT reception • Analysis of difficulties • A preliminary theoretical study : Etude sur l’évaluation du risque de brouillage du canal 60 par les stations de base des réseaux mobiles opérant dans la bande 790-862 MHz(http://www.anfr.fr/fileadmin/mediatheque/documents/etudes/etude_canal_60.pdf ) • CEPT Report 30 • Trial in an TV reception area covered by Ch60 Transmission : Laval trial

  4. Service Area Interference Area The technical issue LTE TX Channel 60+x Wanted DVB-T transmitter Channel 60 Maximum acceptable difference between unwanted and wanted signal Wanted field strength Interfering field strength Field strength Distance

  5. The Laval trial Channel 60 Laval area Transmitter

  6. An overview of the theoretical study 40 BTS ERP=10kW; DTT cell radius : 52.4km Blue: Interfering stations Green: Interfered TV receivers Complementary gap-fillers included Simulation by 10 000 drawing lots

  7. Some preliminary results • Trial conducted within a consortium driven by TDF with Public mobile operators • September-October 2011 • 3 LTE BTS to day; e.r.p. max 64 dBm; the number of BTS will increase and with a traffic rate of 100% • To day, few claims (note that many claims are not involving the LTE transmissions) • Most difficulties are coming from the amplifier devices and the insertion of a filter in these devices. •  Result will be published at the end of the trial
