Utilizing Teachable Moments in SGT • Current Events • Which can be applicable to SGT? • CHARACTERISTICS • Spatial scale of event: Global, Regional, Local • Spatial scale of human impact: Global, Regional, Local • Temporal scale of event: Immediate, human short-term, human long-term, geologic • Original type of event: Atmospheric, Oceanic, Biological, Terrestrial, Extraterrestrial • “Direction” of event: Event impacts humans, Humans impact event • Dominant sphere of influence: Impacts students directly, Impacts students indirectly • Are any of these more important or easier to employ, given our “domains of learning”? Should we focus on these and discount others?
