  1. A Blended Learning Approach Tuesday, June 16, 2014 Professional Development Workshop

  2. About Blended Learning • Blended learning is a formal education program in which a student learns at least in part through online delivery of content and instruction with some element of student control over time, place, path or pace. • According to Roblyer and Doering (2013), blended learning or hybrid learning is a course that is a mixture of online and face-to-face delivery.

  3. Blended Learning delivery systems…

  4. Why the Blended Learning Approach? • Transforms the way we teach. • Blended learning personalizes instruction. • Learning becomes engaging to students and they have the ability to learn in small groups and participate in more collaborative learning. • We can meet students where they are and they can learn at their own pace. • Students have the ability to move around and empower their skills set.

  5. What next? • Does Blended Learning alter the learning environment? • Does Blended Learning require a shift in our thinking and mentality about the power of technology? • Do students have different learning styles? • With the blended learning approach students have the ability to critically think and propel their knowledge-base.

  6. Let’s ask ourselves….. Do you think that DVCA students’ would be comfortable working in a blended and/or online learning environment? Are you comfortable? The U.S. Department of Education is considering the integration of blended instruction for over 50 million students across our nation are you ready?
