Certified Local Government Historic Preservation Program

Join us in preserving our city's rich history through the Certified Local Government Historic Preservation Program. Our General Plan emphasizes smart growth objectives, including reusing existing buildings, revitalizing historic downtown, and protecting our unique "sense of place." Policy 9D ensures proper treatment of archaeological and historic resources. Take action with Policy 9.16 to pursue funding for preservation efforts. CLG Benefits include competing for Historic Preservation Fund Grants, with funds this year totaling $1,304,638. CLG Requirements include enforcing laws, establishing an HPC, maintaining property inventory, involving the public, and fulfilling state responsibilities. Staff recommends adopting a resolution and submitting necessary documents for certification.
