  7. 4 things to seek protection from • Rasulullah has asked us to seek protection in Allah from: • Punishment of the grave • Punishment of the Hellfire • Trials and tribulations of life and death • Trials of the false Christ

  8. 1. From punishment of grave

  16. Special Constructions To add emphasis: Verb is followed by its noun ظَلَمْتُ ظُلْمًا اغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرةً noun verb wronged too much I have wronged wrong Forgive me forgiveness

  17. Another prayer after Durood / before salam

  18. Advice from Prophet: Look at the status of Abu Bakr (R), the noblest man of this Ummah and then look at the wordings of this Du’aa. How humbly and sincerely should we be, when we recite this Du’aa.

  19. Broken Plurals جمع مُكَسَّر Any plural that does not follow the law of “ون” or “ين” (as we studied earlier, for example: plural of مُسْلِم is مُسلِمُون، مُسْلِمِين ) i.e., it has broken the law! Therefore, it is called “Broken Plural.”

  20. Broken Plurals جمع مُكَسَّر نَفْس : Soul (أَنْفُس، نُفُوس) نفسون، نفسين ذَنْب : sin (ذُنُوب) ذنبون، ذبنين

  21. Two Types of Plurals 1 2 Solid Plural جمع سَالِم مُسْلِمُون، مُسْلِمِين، كَافِرون، كَافِرِين، Broken Plural جمع مُكَسَّر أَنْفُس، نُفُوس ذُنُوب The tense for broken plural is singular feminine!!! (Later)

  22. As we complete the Salah… • Ask for forgiveness as we end the Salah • That includes determination to stick to the right path after the Salah. • This prayer was taught by the Prophet pbuh to Abu Bakr (R), the best person of the Ummah. And look at the message… • Let us live from “Salah to Salah”. We will come again in the next Salah and ask again.

  23. Silent Study for 2 min. in Silence Use your pencil to mark or underline new words. And now translate…

  24. Ask Propagate Understand I+G Evaluate Plan Check Before Ending Salah اَللّهُمَّ إِنِّيظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا وَّلاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ فَاغْفِرْ لِيمَغْفِرَةً مِّنْ عِنْدِكَ وَارْحَمْنِي إِنَّكَأَنْتَالْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ 266* 293* 74* 95* 197 91 81

  25. قواعد – Grammar

  26. Two tracks! • We are learning vocabulary as well as Grammar. Right now, there are two separate tracks. • Pure vocabulary approach will be inefficient. We will have to learn each of those 21 verb forms separately, ex: zalamtu, zulman, tazlimu, yazlimoon, etc. • Pure Grammar will make the course too boring and cumbersome. For example, if we analyze the Grammar part of today’s Du’aa, it will take us hours of ‘dry’ exercise.

  27. Two tracks! • We want to build vocabulary from what we recite every day. • And learn the Grammar thru TPI and let you know how many times each verb comes in the Qur’an (to make it exciting!). • These two tracks will slowly be merged as we learn more and more of both.

  28. Language Learning (Qur’anic Arabic)(Vocabulary + Grammar + Pronunciation) We will focus on Tajweed later on. Vocabulary From what we recite everyday Qur’anic Arabic; the Easy Way Grammar TPI; No. of times the verb occurs in the Qur’an

  29. Styles of فَعَلَ a. فَتَحَ، يَفْتَحُ b. نَصَر، يَنْصُرُ c. ضَرَبَ، يَضْرِبُ ... d. سَمِعَ، يَسْمَعُ

  30. Let us now focus on 3rd style • The difference here is only in ‘i’ sound in مضارع compared to that of ‘u’ sound or ‘a’ sound. • Again, a number of Qur’anic words occur in this style.

  31. 58* he hit c ضَرَبَ، يَضْرِبُ.. ضَارِب، مَضْرُوب ضَرْب When practicing in Arabic, say it as if you are talking to Arabs

  32. 266* he wronged 3. ضَرَبَ، يَضْرِبُ.. ظَالِم، مَظْلُوم ظُلْم 90% of 266 forms are the ones we are practicing (shown here). When practicing in Arabic, say it as if you are talking to Arabs

  33. 53* he bore (it) with patience. c ضَرَبَ، يَضْرِبُ.. صَابِر، - صَبْر When practicing in Arabic, say it as if you are talking to Arabs

  34. 95* c ضَرَبَ، يَضْرِبُ.. he forgave غَافِر، مَغْفُور مَغْفِرَة When practicing in Arabic, say it as if you are talking to Arabs

  35. Use this tip to remember Type-C verbs a. فَتَحَ، يَفْتَحُ ضَرَبَ ظَلَمَ صَبَرَ... غَفَرَ b. نَصَر، يَنْصُرُ c. ضَرَبَ، يَضْرِبُ ... d. سَمِعَ، يَسْمَعُ

  36. Motivational tip

  37. 4 Extra Rewards The Prophet pbuh said: “No people assemble in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, without: • tranquility descending upon them, • Mercy (of Allah) covering them, • the angels surrounding them, and • Allah making mention of them in the presence of those near Him.'' [Muslim]

  38. If you really want to learn, then • Make a plan. IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN, YOU PLAN TO FAIL. • People start the course but do not continue. Remember that if you are alone, Shaitaan can attack you easily. • Form a team and restart it again (& again). This will ensure continuity, consistency, and support from each other, in addition to benefiting from each other’s learning.

  39. Fill up the WorksheetsDo the 7+2 Homeworks. Can you list them?

  40. Be ready for the next lesson! Allah has chosen you to learn Qur’an this Ramadan. Thank Him & don’t reject his selection by walking away! Don’t give up! سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ سُبْحَانَكَ اللهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ نَشْهَدُ أَن لاَّ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ نَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَنَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ
