  3. Service Provided • While working at Baltimore County Public Library he made the online catalog searchable from mobile phones • One of his top priorities is doing the same for the DCPL catalog

  4. Baltimore County Public Library • Main branch in Towson, MD • 18 branches • Almost half a million registered users • Serving county since 1948

  5. Motivation • Make it easier to search catalog on phone • Understood that an increasing percentage of the community is going mobile • More users are asking for anywhere, anytime access to data • In order to stay competitive you must be able to attract the users • Responsive Design • Respond to user demands

  6. Implementation of Technology • Used HTML code • The same as creating a normal HTML code, but adding a mobile component • Described it as an “if, then” statement • If this is a mobile phone, then display website like this

  7. Problems/Issues • Noted that since this idea has been around for a few years he did not experience any problems • It was straightforward • The catalog works on a mobile phone

  8. Results • Very positive • The public seems to like that they have mobile access • He did not know of any instances of users having problems using it
