FHA Collaborative on Reducing Readmissions in Florida

In October 2009, the Florida Hospital Association (FHA) reported on efforts to reduce readmission rates for various conditions, including congestive heart failure, heart attacks, and pneumonia. The 2008 data revealed target aims for readmission rates: <8% for congestive heart failure but a level of 12.6%, <6.5% for heart attacks at 11.0%, and <4% for pneumonia at 7.5%. These statistics highlight the ongoing need for initiatives to improve patient outcomes and reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions throughout Florida.
