  2. Introduction I am here to introduce this production of this presentation. This presentation will be about advertisement, and about what types there are. Also about semiotics, and how they have affected the world.

  3. Visual language Visual language is a system that uses visual signs to communicate, many people have tried to explain language some say the idea of making a movement can be body language, or you will know a symbol by just looking at it. For example: the BMW symbol, you know what this is by just the blue and white triangles split into 4 in the circle. Or the recycle symbol, we know it is this because the global reputation and importance, we all need to start recycling to save the world

  4. What is product branding? Product branding is when you have to create a new product. With a new image, name, and product in the consumers mind, mainly through advertising campaigns, with a consistent theme throughout it. An example of a brand is Tesco they are a very large worldwide company that everyone will know the symbol and logo too, They try make themselves seem friendly by having there slogan as “Every little helps” so it attracts the audience of a friendly nature to come shop at there store

  5. What is advertising? Advertising has become a part of our lifestyle, everywhere you go you will see adverts, because everyone is trying to sell a product. What advertising will mainly try and do is draw you in to there product, like a razor will talk about the quality of the razor, and a game would talk about the game style and storyline. And it goes on and on.

  6. Product advertisement Products that are new need to be advertised so people will know about the product that will be on sale. Magazines: to advertise in a magazine the production company will put an article or a review about the product into a specific section and make the writing and product stand out more. This could also be the same in newspapers, they would be in the games section of a newspaper. TV: they could be advertised on TV by making a trailer that will show critical points in the story that will stick out to their audience, also it could show some game play footage to draw the audience in with the effects of game play. Internet: advertising is all over the internet, you can’t go onto any page without seeing advertisement, but any product will be advertised on websites, and they could come to you as, pop ups, presented on the side of websites, on a film, everywhere on Youtube. Another way to advertise is by viral marketing, where friends and family will spread the word about the advert around till it becomes well known.

  7. Product advertisement – Slide 2 Billboards: lots of advertising company’s will advertise on bill boards so people will see them on main roads as they drive past. They will mostly be an image with big words across them, so people can quickly see it and know what it’s advertising. Vehicles: advertising will sometimes take place on a bus or a car to advertise products. Mostly it will be advertisement for themselves. Or they would get paid to advertise something else. Like a game or a new TV program. Fly posting: this is when people will put flyers on posts and walls to advertise band gigs, or new events coming to the area. They will normally be bright colours to attract people’s attention. Event sponsorship: they will advertise through the football teams or the football stadium via. Names, emirates stadium, Amex stadium, advertising on football shirts. And in the stadium itself. Music festivals like Sonishpere and Download are highly advertisement. Also product placement in films.

  8. Types of Advertisement TV: Billboards: Internet: Vehicles: Posters: Magazines:

  9. Semiotics Semiotics is a visual language, its explained as you can see a sign or a logo and you will understand what you mean, E.G the traffic lights. We all know that red is stop, green is go and that amber is get ready. We also know still images. Like the disabled sign, we all know what this is because its worldwide and the symbol represents someone in a wheelchair. Sometimes it can be done with signs on the hand, we call this sign language because you use your hands to communicate, you will mostly see this in schools, colleges and university's. it is used for the sign language

  10. language in people sometimes you can see visual language in people because of their gestures and facial expressions. You will be able to tell because of the way they react to something, Example: the man with the gold back round is laughing, we can tell this because you can see the happiness on his face because he is smiling and his mouth is wide open. You wouldn’t say this is an unhappy look. With this image you can see he is scared, because he has a worried look on his face. You wouldn’t say this is a happy looking face because as you can see with the image above that he looks much more cheerful. Visual language, everyone does it everyday and we don’t choose if we do it or not, but people can mostly tell how you feel by your body language or maybe the gestures that you give off.

  11. Semiotics in advertising Sometimes you will see semiotics in advertising, it has crept in from being signs and words now to logo’s. like we know red and white represents coke. Because of semiotics. It has worked it’s way onto every advert you could think of but we don’t notice them but we remember them, because our mind knows to sort colors into developers. its not only with beverages though, it can also be with cars or anything else like the Nike symbol. We know if we saw a black tick on something we would know strait away that it would be the Nike symbol. It could also be for advertisements. Some game logo’s are so well known that you don’t have to have the name with it just to know what it is. Like this COG you would know it was to do with gears of war because it’s the shape of the logo.

  12. Slogan examples: Be a man! man. – Old Spice. The best a man can get – Gillette Connecting people – Nokia Colors: Red – Stop, Coke. Black tick – Nike. Blue – Nokia. Green – Recycling. Silver – Apple What products make us think: Old Spice – random, nice scented Apple – Smart, clean Nike – good quality shoes, tick represents quality. Examples of semiotics

  13. Conclusion Adverts have come a long way from signs now to the internet and TV, but product placement has only been in adverts and films for not very long but is catching on just like normal adverts do. You will now see product placement wherever you go. Because that is a part of life, we see adverts in: TV, radio, internet, newspapers, magazines, train stations, bus stops, billboards in our time. In the future they could broadcasted into your dreams, or maybe while your walking it would be broadcasted in front of you. I don’t want this…
