    2. Business Data • Business data is used to make day to day decisions • Everyone has business data • Excel File • Access Database • Oracle • SQL Server • Text File • Paper • Etc…

    3. Business Data • Where is you business data? • LAN Folder, Database • Is your business data maintained? • Regular update schedule • Data security • History • Can it be shared without duplication? • Example: Make a copy of an Excel file for someone to update then try to merge changes.

    5. Aviation • Need to locate Airports, Heliports and runways • Query aviation business data to display on map • Example: Show number of airports that have fuel XYZ over a certain capacity

    14. Five Year Program • Need to display planned projects and query business data to display on a map • Create maps quickly for commission meetings • On Demand requests from legislators • Maps easier to understand that tabular data

    19. Five Year Program • Phase II – Use LRS to create project locations • Take Route, begin milepost, end mile post and transform locations into geometries using LRS • Projects follow LRS line work • No need to maintain project geometries, they are derived from LRS

Geographical Information Management System (GIMS) • GIMS database contains all road centerlines, structures and rails crossing locations and associated business data • Transportation Data had the need to update road centerlines via GeoMedia. • GeoMedia access to GIMS data came through MGE files generated each evening.
