  2. THE NEED... Legacy pricing engine was prohibiting the Cruise line to instantly use dynamic promos because of batch job processing. A single pricing engine used to serve promos every night for 6 hours that should have been done in seconds. Existing Pricing engine was not equipped to serve multiple agencies and multiple cruise promos. HOW WE DID IT We architected a Microservices based solution on AWS Key Solution components: » The solution can horizontally scale based on the processing needs of pricing engine » A new data capture pipeline was built to pull new promo changes from IBM DB 2 database Promo codes are triggered from Polar Mainframe system to DB 2 » Data written to a NoSQL store This data in NoSQL store is optimized for processing » Processing Engine The new engine was designed to read data written in the NoSQL store and perform processing in real time based on the pricing rules » It exposes a REST API that is consumed by diferent front end applications TECHNOLOGY BENEFITS » AWS first architecture using services on ECS, ElastiCache, RDS, Elastic Load balancer » Built using CQRS pattern » De coupled services with easier maintainability » Automated deployments » Containerized workload which is Horizontally scalable
