  2. DEPED – QUEZON LIBRARY HUB “Bringing books to schools and making every child a reader” History of the Library Hub Services offered Guidelines on how to borrow books Library Hub Forms

  3. HISTORY The Library Hub Project was initiated by the previous Schools Division Superintendent, Azucena O. Romulo and Provincial Governor of Quezon, Wilfrido L. Enverga. They worked together for the construction of a building for the hub located within the Division Office compound, Brgy. Talipan, Pagbilao, Quezon. The building was inaugurated on Mar 6, 2008 and became functional on July 2008 during the administration of the present Schools Division Superintendent, Mrs. Gloria P. Potes with the support of the incumbent Provincial Governor Rafael P. Nantes. The most remarkable achievement of DepED – Quezon Library Hub that gave honor not only to the Division of Quezon, but to Region IV-A as well is when the hub was adjudged the MOST FUNCTIONAL LIBRARY HUB IN THE PHILIPPINES awarded during the First National Convention of Library Hubs on November 23-26, 2009 at the Bayview Hotel, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

  4. VISION To make every Filipino Child a reader in the Division of Quezon imbued with values and life skills by providing supplementary reading materials through DepED - Quezon Library Hub. MISSION To bring and make books accessible to all public elementary and secondary schools in the division. GOAL To establish a functional library hub in the Division of Quezon catering to all public elementary pupils and public secondary students for supplementary reading materials.

  5. The DepED Quezon Library Hub LIBRARY HOURS The library hub is open from Monday - Friday at 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Library Hub Book-Based Storytelling Services • one of the services of the library hub that offers storytelling to Elementary pupils in the division that is in-line with Bureau of Elementary Education’s Every Child a Reader Program (ECARP) which aims to make every Filipino Child a Reader at the end of grade III. • It aims to provide adequate access to reading materials through DepED – Quezon Library Hub; • Develop the genuine love and habit of reading among students and pupils; and • Enhance the pupils reading and comprehension skills.

  8. participants are Elementary School pupils in Quezon, where in there are 30 pupils from Grades 1 – 3 (10 pupils in each grade) in every session. And Storytellers must be Elementary Master Teachers or Teachers in grade 1 -3. • stories that will be used by the storytellers to their school participants must be stories from the library hub. • Storytellers and school participants are given division certificates signed by the Schools Division Superintendent. • scheduled every Wednesday, and starts at every 9 a.m. in the morning and 2 p.m. in the afternoon.

Film Viewing Services • services help teachers appreciate Philippine and Foreign Literature through the use of the library hub non-print materials and other forms of multi-media resources; • help students develop analytical thinking skills through movie analysis; • enhance students communication skills such as listening, speaking, writing, viewing, and interpreting skills; • orient secondary schools on how to use the library hub resources; and • promote and encourage secondary school supplementary reading materials of the hub.

  13. GUIDELINES ON BORROWING AND RETURNING OF libraryhub MATERIALS 1. Through the list of library materials available at the library, the school head must prepare a reading request in advance to be submitted to the hub librarian through the school teacher-librarian. 2. The district supervisor, the school head, the teacher-librarian, or any authorized representative of the school can borrow bins of books for his / her school (s). 3. The hub adopts the following schedule in borrowing and returning of books: Borrowing: Monday – Wednesday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm Returning : Thursday – Friday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm

  14. 4. Borrowing and returning of reading materials from the library hub must be recorded both by the school teacher-librarian and the hub librarian / assistant. 5. Borrowed reading materials must be returned after 25 calendar days. Strictly no bin swapping or bin exchange particularly among neighboring school without the knowledge of the library hub librarian. Materials must be returned on specified due date with narrative report (with pictures, graphs, charts, lesson plan are advised to be included in the report) on materials use. 6. The teacher may allow the pupils to take out a reading material for reading enrichment but should be returned within 5 school days. School authorities particularly the classroom teacher-librarian and the principal are held responsible for taken-out reading materials. Lost books or damaged library materials must be reported and replaced with the same book title and edition immediately after 1-2 weeks.

  15. 7. The division / district library hub committee must set-up their local system of borrowing, lending and returning of books for better access of students to library hub reading materials. 8. Schools with overdue book materials, lost or damaged books will be ban for a month. A school with overdue materials is not allowed to borrow books from the hub. Renewal of borrowed materials is allowed for 2 consecutive times. 9. Photocopying of library materials by school borrowers is strictly prohibited without prior notice to the hub librarian. 10. In case of retirement / separation from service, clearance regarding library hub borrowed books and other materials must be secured.
