  4. Demographics of Our School Population 2011-2012 Data 1,018 Students in Grades 6-8 926 White/Non-Hispanic Students 171 Students Utilizing Free/Reduced Lunch (about 12% of the population) 73 Students with Disabilities (about 7% of the population)

  5. K-Prep Data Percent Proficient/Distinguished 62.9 Percent Proficient and Distinguished in the State is 40.6

  6. K-Prep Data for Students Students with IEPs • 45.2% of the population were Proficient or Distinguished Compared to 43% of the state (this is where most of our SIP is centered this year) Students with Free and Reduced Lunch • 37% of the population were Proficient or Distinguished Compared to 29% of the state

  7. Why We Believe our Math Program is Successful Parental Support of our School Feeder School Math Programs Rigorous Math Curriculum at GMS Collaboration of Teachers Programs Instituted by Math Department

  8. Feeder Schools Elementary Schools: Mann New Haven Erpenbeck Kelly/Collins (small percentage) All of our Elementary math programs have Accelerated classes and Advanced Classes.

  9. Math Curriculum offered at GMS • 7th Grade: • Math 7 • Accelerated Math 7 • Algebra I • 8th Grade: • Math 8 • Algebra I • Geometry Accelerated Math courses follow Appendix A in the Common Core High school course follow Common Core And Quality Core 6th Grade: • Math 6 • Accelerated Math

Placement of Students in Courses • Very specific standards created to place students in the correct courses • Students are given a handbook with the criteria spelled out for them for the qualifications of each course • Data used • STAR Math results/Scantron results • Previous Course Performance • Teacher Recommendation

  12. Math Enrichment Extra math class during Enrichment time Each student rotates through one term of math enrichment Common Core is taught Essentially, students receive 7 extra weeks of math instruction per year Every grade level teaches Common Core for their grade level

Intervention GMS has a full-time RTI math teacher and RTI reading teacher Tier I students receive interventions in the regular classroom Tier 2 students have one unified arts class designated for small group intervention and remediation with a teacher using Vmath Teachers are funded through allocations due to student enrollment ESS and individual teacher after-school assistance for struggling students

Technology Used in Math Classes At Gray Document Cameras for Instruction SMART Boards Response Systems (Clickers) for Formative Assessment during instruction Edmodo for classroom discussion between students and student accountability Remind 101, Teacher Websites, and Infinite Campus for Parent Communication Compass Learning for many purposes
