  1. NGN interoperability- TTC activities in ITU-T - Kaoru Kenyoshi, TTC Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) GSC-15

  2. Resolution 76 “Studies related to conformance and interoperability testing, assistance to developing countries, and a possible future ITU Mark programme” which was approved in WTSA08 instructs to take actions to all SGs to improve NGN interoperability. Highlight of Current Activities(1) TTC drives the discussion of NGN interoperability in SG11.

  3. A contribution proposed to develop a draft recommendation for the conformance testing and interoperability testing. This contribution was discussed in SG11, SG13 and SG16. The proposed draft recommendation for the conformance testing and interoperability testing are composed with a single framework Recommendation and series of Recommendations which include detail specifications for each service. The framework Recommendation includes procedure, requirements, architecture and document sets as well as the scope, definition and reference. It will be general and overview descriptions for the conformance testing and the interoperability testing. The subsidiary series of Recommendations include the detail descriptions for the specific service ant it will be created according to progress of study for each service. SG11 is developing two draft Recommendations Q.NGN interoperability and Q.VoIP conformance testing at NGN UNI Highlight of Current Activities(2)Discussion in the NGN-GSI meeting

  5. Strategic DirectionProposals to improve interoperability TTC created new work group to discuss NGN interoperability and study new series of Recommendations “NGN interoperability”. Contributions, which include detailed technical information based on the TTC standard JT-3402, were submitted to the NGN-GSI meeting (April 2010). Those proposals were agreed and captured in the annex to the Q.VoIP conformance testing at NGN UNI. TTC propose to share our experiences and invite technical information from various SDOs and analyze them to find the solution to achieve the NGN interoperability.

  6. Proposed annex to the draft Rec. Q.VoIP conformance Testing at NGN UNI TTC developed Technical Reports to specify the detailed protocol specifications at NGN UNI and NNI for interoperability between Japanese operators. TTC developed TTC standards JT-Q3401 and JT-Q3402 which consist of the translation part of ITU-T Recommendations and TTC original specifications as Annex and Appendix. 7. ChallengesRemaining BIG issues Protocol specifications are not developed in SG11 therefore no interoperability tests can be provided for PSTN/ISDN simulation services. :Task of SG11 Accelerate the on going study for VoIP conformance testing and initiate the new work item for VoIP interoperability testing. :Task of SG11 Harmonization and/or integration of separate discussions in Q.3/SG13 and Q.8, 9,10/SG11 relating to physical architecture for NGN interoperability. :Task of NGN-GSI Iran submitted a contribution “SIP-based Call Server Test Procedures” (Iran, ASTAP17/EG.NGN/04) to the 17th ASTAP Forum (05 July 2010 - 09 July 2010 Pattaya, Thailand). Developing countries seek detailed test specifications based on ITU-T standard. Collaboration of member SDOs of GSC is needed.

  8. Next Steps/Actions This presentation introduces the TTC activities in the April NGN-GSI meeting of the discussion on NGN interoperability. SG11 promotes to develop draft Recommendations for NGN interoperability including the general framework document and technical specifications document for VoIP conformance testing and VoIP interoperability testing. SG16 are developing the series of the draft Recommendations for IPTV conformance testing. The first ITU-T IPTV interop event was held in Geneva 20-23 July 2010 which is driven by SG16. Member SDOs of GSC should promote the study of NGN interoperability in ITU-T NGN-GSI.
