  2. Library Mission • Your student will grow into a: • Critical Thinker • Enthusiastic Reader • Skillful Researcher • Ethical User/Creator • of Information The mission of the Chesterfield County Public School libraries is to empower students and staff through the direction and guidance of certified school librarians to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical users/creators of information in support of student achievement in a global environment.

  3. Guidelines Students have a 45-minute Library class on a weekly basis, where they will learn library information skills, listen to stories, and work on projects. There is a scheduled check-out period during Library class. Students may also visit during daily morning check-out

  4. Check-out “If I was a book, I would like to be a library book, so I would be taken home by all different sorts of kids.” --Cornelia Funke The library operates on the expectation that students will be eager partners in the circulation of library books, checking them out and returning them and repeating this cycle throughout their school careers. Check-out Opportunities: • Morning Check-out every day! • Library Class If a book is lost or damaged, payment to replace the book is expected. We cannot accept replacement books purchased by parents. Library books have a special library binding and processing.   “Library Quotes Page 4 – BrainyQuote.” Famous Quotes at BrainyQuote. 5. Book Care Proper book care prolongs the life of our books, giving our students greater selection and choice. Book Care Tips • Keep a plastic bag in your backpack to protect the book from liquid spills and rain. • Have a safe place for library books at home, away from younger children and pets. • Keep books away from food and drink. • Keep your library book in the same safe place so you can find it easily. • Don’t repair books at home – bring them to the library where our trained staff can repair books properly. • Remember your Library day so you can check-out!

  8. Book Fairs Reams Library sponsors 2 book fairs per school year. The first is a weekend Book fair held at the nearby Barnes and Noble bookstore in December. We also hold a spring Scholastic Book Fair. School book fairs support literacy by providing the opportunity for students to purchase books that they can keep and share with their families. It encourages the love of books and reading, while at the same time raising funds to purchase new books for the library.
