In the Spirit of Paul Klee: In-class Watercolor Warm-ups The following slides show some of the small warm-up watercolor paintings that students in both sections of Humanities made on Thursday, 10/14. Many use watercolor washes in ways such that we see translucency effects clearly: we get the idea that one shape overlays another, and that the colors and values of the underlying shape(s) is/are affected by the overlaid color(s). Others don’t, but show effective and interesting use of a range of other techniques, including the blending of colors. Several combine black (Sharpie) line quite effectively with the watercolor. Many also show the influence of Klee’s imagery and ideas: definitely “in the spirit”!
