  3. About the project The idea of the project „Hopscotch. In search of vintage games” is to draw the youth away from sitting in front of the computer and to discern that not only the virtual world is beautiful. In the first year of the enterprise, together with the school from Estonia we carried out a survey among those connected with the knowledge of vintage games (e.g. kapsle, palant). We got the biggest amount of information from elderly people, which is of great importance since one of the aims of the project is building up the intergeneration bonds. During the first visit to Poland, out of a huge database, we chose some games from both countries. All the activities we have undertaken are based on the values of friendship, respect, goodness, sincerity, love, trust and tolerance. The very project is propagated in the form of brochures, multimedia presentations in other schools in the town and in the local environment. The Partner Project Comenius enables the fulfilment of the cognitive aims assumed by the schools; it enables the students to develop the curiosity of the world, get to know other cultures, tolerance and cooperative skills in different circumstances. It teaches the existence in the contemporary world and international cooperation and allows the students to improve their language skills. Both the schools have great experience in cooperation and implementing both projects and other actions on the national and international stage. 4. TABLE FOOTBALL - it is a game whose aim is to move three or more coins on the surface. History – ‘Cymbergaj’ is a game with over a hundred-year tradition. In each of its versions it was a game played in playgrounds or schoolyards, popular especially among children or the youth in the 1960s and 1980s. In the time when the computer games were a dream the game was a great pastime. It appears that ‘cymbergaj’ dates to the end of XVIII and the beginning of the XIX century. Apparently, at this time Austrian soldiers used to play this game playing in the quarters. Till recently- apart from occasional games- this pastime seemed to become forgotten. Since September 2007 the lovers of the game ‘Cymbergaj Grzebieniowy-Comb Cymbergaj” have been meeting and playing regularly in Wrocław on different tournaments organized by the Wrocław Section of PZCG (the Polish Society of Comb Cymbergaj). ( Wikipedia ) Number of participants – 2 players – no age limits Place – Flat, solid surface, e.g. a table, a desk etc. The game takes place on the ‘pitch’ with marked center, penalty area and goals. Items nedeed: 3 coins, 2 of them ( usually bigger for example 2 zl ) are used as Players, and the third (with smaller weight, for example 20 gr) as a Ball; a comb or a small ruler and two goals (e.g. two posts made of clay)

  5. before the beginning the players draw lots who is going to start. The aim is to score as many goals as it is possible, using the combs do hit the ‘players’ ( coins) so as to move the ball towards the opponent’s goal. General rules are taken from football, even with penalties, fouls, free kicks, corners and outs. The players take turns to hit the ball. Due to only technical aspect the size of the ‘players’ ( the blue and the red one) and the ball ( yellow) is enlarged here to illustrate the game better. 1The start – just like in football the game is stared from the middle. 2.The correct hit Lines can be marked by a pencil or a crayon Goal field The penalty point The posts Comb or ruler 3.The incorrect hit (foul)

  6. 4.Free kicks * Free kick-if a player instead of the ball hits the opposite player, the fouled player has the right to make a free kick from the foul point. * Out-if the ball is ‘kicked’ outside the side lines, the player who throws the out puts the ball in such a way that half of it is on the line and the second half stays outside the pitch. The ball is hit from the side with the palm. Then the player has got one more move. * Corner-if the ball is kicked outside the lines the ball is hit from the corner just like in football * Penalty-if a player who wants to defend the goal instead of the ball hits the other player ( the attacking one), who is in the penalty area, then we have a penalty shot. The player sets his ‘player’ and the ball on the designed spot and the other player sets the goalkeeper. ( example below) 5.Scoring the goal- the goal is scored if the ball crosses the goal line with all its circumference. 6.The time allocated – is set before the match- suggested time is 2x7.5 minutes. penalty

  7. A few sample moves The beginning of the game. Depending on who was chosen to start, the game is started by the player – in this case the blue one the red player is taking the game to the side of the pitch Poz 1 Poz 2 Poz 2 Poz 1 The red player, taking into account that he can miss the ball and thus create a good opportunity for the opponent to score a goal, blocks the way to his own goal The blue player, instead of hitting the ball sets his own team’s player in a suitable position to the next move.
