  4. Orange • Warm • Happy • Exciting • Hot • Disturbed • Distressed • Unpleasant

Other Things to Consider in Your Design What type of Fabrics will it be made of? • Natural: Cotton, Linen, Silk, Wool • Synthetic: Acrylic, Nylon, Polyester, Rayon The Type of Fabric will determine the texture of your costume- and texture communicates meaning. Consider the difference between a character wearing linen or wearing silk?

  13. What angles and lines will be used in your design? • Consider the difference between stiff lines and soft curves. • What kind of shapes can you use in your design? Geometric/Natural? Will you be able to see the human form beneath the costume?

  14. Color, texture and lines can say a lot for you! • Consider these different combinations: • Brown, rough cotton in soft lines. • Orange, slick polyester, with sharp angles. • Blue sheer fabric with a floating silhouette. • White wool with an unnatural shape. • Any others you can think of… When creating a costume be aware of what the choices you make are communicating to others.
