  3. Solution Added lecture on realism Students have an opportunity to take the Simulation Innovation Resource Center (SIRC) on-line course on Maximizing Realism (Anderson & Ackermann, n. d.).

  4. Solution • Use moulage(makeup) (Anderson & Ackermann, n. d.). • Students have a day where they make “vomit” • Different supplies/recipe cards • Students vote = best recipe

  5. Making Moulage “Emesis”

  6. Solution Practice making bruises Various paints Vote on best Watch staining!!! Might use spare parts (Anderson & Ackermann, n. d.)

  7. Making Moulage “Bruises”

  8. Other Ways- Increase Realism • Consider: • Participant senses • Standardized patients • Instructor attitude/behavioral guidelines • Hybrids • Appropriate roles within simulation (Anderson & Ackermann, n. d.).

  9. Outcome Realistic simulation scenarios Students have “fun” while learning
