  2. Bio • B.A. in Child & Family Development---UNC-Charlotte • M.A. in Elementary Education---Gardner-Webb University • 15th year in public education • Taught Pre-K, 1st & 2nd grades • Worked in Gaston, Guilford, Cleveland & Rowan counties in schools w/high % of free-reduced lunch

  3. Analyzing Reading 3D Data • NWF CLS & WWR, Fluency, Accuracy, Retell, TRC • Pull students that are red & yellow in each area & add these skills to guided reading group & direct instruction w/teacher and/or assistant

Building the Guided Reading Plan • Use specific skills based on the data to guide your plan. • Groups are formed based on TRC levels • Include strategy focus, such as: connections to text, fluency, oral comprehension, and/or written comprehension • Include vocabulary, sight words to review, and instructional focus, such as decoding strategies, vowel patterns, etc. • Make notes as students read

Utilizing Your Assistant • Provide specific skills needed to work on for each student. • Direct Instruction can be individual or small group • Provide copies of TRC question stems & typed written comprehension questions • Assistant works with students during Daily 5 centers or pull-outs during whole group instruction

Reading 3D Data GrowthBOY-MOY 2014-2015 • 21 students- overall average growth in TRC 3.7 levels • One student grew 8 levels & 9 students grew 4 or more levels • DIBELS growth of students on grade level or above- 33% to 63% • TRC growth of students on grade level or above- 33% to 52% • Fluency (wpm) 15/21 (71%) met goal • Fluency (Accuracy) 13/21 (63%) met goal
