Kingfishers open water squad – A history • Became part of Kingfisher in 1979 alongside the old Plaxton club. • Formerly know as Scarborough Castle Long Distance Club • Several BLDSA national champions and top 3 finished in yearly Grand Prix serious. • 3 successful Chanel relay events, 1 double relay crossing in 1980’s. • Coached by Maureen Dickinson up to 2 years ago, who is still on board as an advisor • Head Coach now Paula Ambury. • Trains at Wykeham Lake and Sea. • Successfully relaunched local sea swims in 2011 after completion of sea defences.
