  3. Greek Heroes • Could heal, give oracles • Hero statues seen as healers • Worshipped in cults • Were extraordinary, had bad conduct • Greek heroes-either mortal or lived forever

  4. Myths • Dipped in Styx River, exposed heel • Gave term “Achilles Heel” • Rubbed with ambrosia • Peleus horrified, Thetis leaves • Achilles two fates: • Life without glory • Glory from death in battle

  5. Conclusion • Great war hero • Died in battle • Shot in the heel • Heart was located in his heel • Consider a great hero from Battle of Troy
