  2. În deşertul din Sahara De nisip şi soare plin Umbă-abia târându-şi paşii, Ars de soare-un beduin.

  3. Umbla, umblă fără preget Cum Allah-porunca-i dete, Soarele-l topeşte-l arde, Dar mai rău ears de...sete.

  4. Cade în genunchi, se roagă: -Doamne, setea să mi-o sting, Dă-mi un bulgăre de gheaţă, Ca să ling, Doamne, să ling.

  5. Sau de n-ai să-mi dai un bulgăr Doamne-atot îndurător, Un pistol să-mi dai Părinte, Ca să trag, să mă omor.

  6. Nici nu îşi sfârşise ruga Că aproape din senin O fecioară ca în basme, Albă, albă ca un crin

  7. Dezbrăcată-io minune Nalta şi cu pieptul gol, Cu un sloi de gheaţă-n mână Şi-n cealaltă cu-un pistol.

  8. Stă Iusuf şi o contemplă Mistuit de dor nespus, Şi-apoi în genunchi se roagă Lui Allah, în ceruri, sus:

  9. Sfătuieşte Tu Părinte Pe un beduin pribeag Şi învaţă-mă Prea Sfinte: Să ling Doamne…sau să trag!
