  1. Introduction to Seismic Data Processing Services In the Gulf Coast ECHO processing makes a difference!

  2. Original Processing ECHO Processing ECHO processing makes a difference!

  3. Company Background • ECHO was founded on August 1st, 1986 in Denver, CO by seismic data processors for the purpose of providing seismic data processing services. • Creativity combined with a perceived client need for reasonably priced seismic data inspired the data pool concept. • The company became a niche data provider and concentrated on that portion of its business model for several years, yet all the while continued to provide proprietary data processing services. • The company has begun to concentrate on establishing a stronger presence in the data processing domain, investing in hardware, software, and expertise.

  4. Advancement in Processing Services • ECHO’s understanding of clients’ data processing needs and desires has been strengthened by datapool client feedback. • ECHO has grown through the years. Here are some current analyst statistics: • -We currently employ processing analysts across the U.S. • -The average processor at ECHO has more than 20 years of experience. • -Our team offers extensive, worldwide experience, having processed seismic data in 44 countries on 6 continents, onshore and offshore • Senior Staff Geophysicist, Bill Wepfer, Ph.D., now directs ECHO’s technical advancement. Bill has overseen the development of several proprietary processing software programs and updated general processing flow methodology, improving product quality and turn-around time.

  5. Processing Platforms, Hardware and Software • ECHO currently provides services for 2D and 3D time processing projects and 2D depth imaging projects using a combination of different hardware systems, including Linux-based PC clusters, IRIX-based SGI computers and desktop computers. • ECHO’s base time processing platform is Landmark’s ProMAX. • ECHO’s base depth processing platform is Paradigm’s GeoDEPTH. • Geometry analysis and refraction statics calculations are performed using Renegade’s Seismic Studio and Green Mountain’s Millenium. • Pre-Stack Time Migration is performed using Techco’s Summig (Kirchhoff Algorithm) • ECHO’s proprietary software and methodology include: • FreqEnhanceTM – for resolution enhancement • EPPTM – for pressure prediction • ARBETM – for detection of anisotropy • WepferianTM AVO – for specialized hydrocarbon detection

  6. Processing Services Philosophy • ECHO’s philosophy hinges on the belief that the client is key. We not only welcome but encourage client input for the duration of any given project. We are happy to test unconventional flows, comparing the results of those flows to standard processing approaches. If a client prefers to have ECHO design the processing sequence, we will call upon our extensive experience to build a sound, data specific flow the client can trust. Most importantly, we stand behind our conviction that client satisfaction is our ultimate goal by offering an unconditional guarantee on our work. • How does ECHO honor its philosophy and achieve its goals? • Ethics • Accountability • Thoroughness • Practicality

  7. Ethics • ECHO’s processing clients are key to the success of our business, so in ECHO’s processing offices, proprietary processing projects come first. We believe all clients/jobs are important, and we treat them all equally. Processing clients do not wait for computer time behind huge multi-client jobs. We know our throughput capabilities and will not bid on projects we cannot reasonably handle. We stand behind our work. If a client is dissatisfied with processing products received from ECHO, he or she will not be required to pay for them. • Accountability • A solid processing flow is only a starting point for success on a given project. The person who follows through with the processing flow is every bit as important as the flow itself. We know that clients strongly consider relationships when awarding work to contractors. For that reason, ECHO has put together a strong group of very experienced geophysical analysts and holds each person accountable for the work he/she performs. Our individual processing geophysicists work directly with clients, without a management filter, encouraging frequent communication and ensuring delivery of the best product, the first time.

  8. Thoroughness • Seismic processing is scientific, but it is also very subjective and, at times, artistic. To minimize the influence of individual styles created by the subjective portion of processing, ECHO imparts a collaborative Q.C. approach. This means that more than one experienced analyst will evaluate a project before it is deemed complete. We call this methodology our Peer Review process. • Practicality • Clients are always welcome in ECHO’s office, but we know it isn’t always convenient to come to us. To address this issue, we offer viewing sessions using ThinAnywhere (a free, user-friendly, internet-based session connection software) at our clients’ convenience. • We monitor general pricing trends for processing services and always strive to price products and services fairly and competitively.

  9. Processing in the Gulf Coast • Data pool operations combined with proprietary processing services have afforded ECHO’s analysts the opportunity to expand upon an already impressive experience level while building expertise in the Gulf Coast. In recent years, ECHO has processed data in the following Gulf Coast counties and parishes: • Acadia, Anderson, Aransas, Ascension, Assumption, Atascosa, Bee, Brazoria, Brooks, Calcasieu, Cameron, Chambers, Cherokee, Choctaw, Clarke, Colorado, DeWitt, Duval, Evangeline, Fort Bend, Freestone, Galveston, Greene, Hardin, Harris, Henderson, Hidalgo, Hopkins, Iberia, Iberville, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kenedy, Kleberg, Lafayette, LaFourche, LaSalle, Lavaca, Leon, Lincoln, Live Oak, Matagorda, Monroe, Nacogdoches, Navarro, Newton, Nueces, Orange, Pike, Plaquemines, Refugio, Robertson, San Patricio, Shelby, Smith, St Charles, St John the Baptist, St Martin, St Mary, Starr, Tensas, Terrebonne, Vermilion, Victoria, Washington, Webb, Wharton, Willacy, Wood, Zapata • Data pool projects alone have provided additional experience to ECHO’s analysts on approximately 100 surveys covering more than 3,200 square miles in the Gulf Coast in recent years. Likewise, approximately 4,000 miles of 2D data in this area have been processed by ECHO through its data pools and revenue sharing programs.

  10. Processing Experience • ECHO’s processing geophysicists have developed skills essential to dealing with Gulf Coast processing challenges. While all of ECHO’s analysts can provide top-notch Gulf Coast processing services, the following are some of ECHO’s Gulf Coast processing experts: • Senior Staff Geophysicist Bill Wepfer, Ph.D. has earned many accolades from Gulf Coast explorationists as a result of his ability to find a way to improve upon existing processing on any survey. • Senior Processing Geophysicist Randy Jackson’s vast experience in processing data from all over the country allows him to provide services to clients working the Gulf Coast with confidence and efficiency. • Senior Geophysical Analyst Bob Vite has developed a great reputation among Gulf Coast players for his ability to assertively conquer statics and noise problems.

  11. Processing Examples ECHO’s data pool operations present the company with a unique ability to showcase its processing abilities on a wide variety of data. Included here are processing examples from surveys in ECHO’s 3-D Gulf Coast Program. All examples showcase ECHO’s data processing products compared to the original processing that was provided by the data contributor.
