  2. Wedding at Cana “…and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.”John 2:2 Jesus is there!!! Our relationship with the world? > In the world but not of the world > You are the salt of the earth (Matt 5:13) > What use is salt if it is not in contact with the rotting carcass?

  3. Wedding at Cana “When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, ‘they have no more wine.’” John 2:3 This is a major problem! > social disgrace would haunt the couple > Jewish legal system granted that guests could take hosts to court!

  7. Wedding at Cana “His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’” John 2:5 Jesus response > Does his face say it all? > Does Jesus feel the same concern for the couple that his mother also felt?

Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.” John 2:6-7 Stone Water Jars > Used for Jewish ceremonial washing > Symbols of Judaism and it’s ritual > Replacement of the old covenant between God and Israel with the new covenant between God and humanity.

  10. Wedding at Cana “…and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now." John 2:9-10

He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.” John 2:11 What has happened at Cana? > Jesus turned something ordinary into something extraordinary!!! > This miracle of transformation of something ordinary into the extraordinary can happen again!
