  2. Demographics Databases GIS Business Information Services, LLC Preston Smith Principal Owner A high-tech business doing business the old-fashioned way

  3. Local Economy Broken Arrow hasn’t been as hard-hit as elsewhere

  4. Relatively low unemployment

  5. Overall Growth

  6. New students in the 2010-11 vs 2009-10 year in the southern part of the district

  7. Students in 2009-10 year but left in the 2010-11 school year in the southern part of the district

  8. A large number of private-school students live in the area.

  9. About 14 percent of the school-age children attend private schools, home-schooled or attend other public schools.

  10. Potential changes Where populations could change

  11. There could be a need of a new elementary school on the eastern half of the district.

  12. Future enrollment New Middle School Needed?

  13. Current enrollment: Elementary overcrowding. May want to shift 5th grade to middle school, or redraw attendance boundaries. May want to replace one or two elementaries with one larger new one. May want to move 3rd grade at CL to the CL 4th/5th Center.

  14. If nothing is changed: By 2015-16: Severe elementary overcrowding and at the intermediate high schools.

  15. If nothing is changed: By 2020-21: Severe elementary overcrowding and at the intermediate high schools.

  16. If we move 3rd from CL to 4th-5th Center If 193 3rd graders are shifted from CL Elementary to the 4th-5th Grade Center, CL Elementary is still overcrowded and there is still room at the 3rd-5th Center.

  17. If we move 2nd and 3rd from CL to 4th-5th Center If 219 2nd graders AND 193 3rd graders are shifted from CL Elementary to the 4th-5th Grade Center, CL Elementary is not overcrowded and the 2nd-5th Center is about right.

  18. If only the middle school enrollment and square footage is considered, we still have a surplus sq. footages. Currently there is no need of a new middle school.

  19. By 2020-21, there is still an overall surplus of square footages based on the high-end anticipated enrollment. Again, we do not see a need for a new middle school.
