  3. Don’t Miss Tests • ASVAB • PSAT • ACT/SAT • AIMS (Meet or Exceed) • Exceed for Tuition waiver (by the end of year) Military Academy • Majority of your work needs to be completed

  4. Check Up • Check to see if you’re in the classes you need • Check your credits • Work on your grade point average

  5. Graduation Requirements English 4 credits Math 3 credits Science 2 credits History 3 credits Fine Arts /CTE 1 credit Elective 9 credits Pass all Aims Tests See your counselor if you need to make changes

University Bound • 3.0 GPA in 16 core classes • Rank in top 50% considered • 2.0 in the following core classes • 4 credits of English • 4 credits of Math • 3 credits of Science • 2 credits of Social Science • 2 credits of Foreign Language • 1 credit of Fine Arts • Always check with your college for changes

  7. 11th Grade Checklist • August • Get serious about your schoolwork if you haven’t already; junior year grades are extremely important as is the rigor of your coursework. Visit the Counseling Office and get a schedule of test dates for ACT and SAT college entrance exams. Re-evaluate your high school plan to make sure you are on track for graduation. • September • Register to take the PSAT exam. Attend college fairs or send for college materials. Keep a folder for each post secondary school in which you are interested. ASVAB Test for career info or military score

  8. October • Take the PSAT to practice for the SAT and to qualify for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. • November • Talk to your parent about your post secondary plans. Check out Universities and community colleges for programs that meet your plans. Start thinking about the elective classes you would like to take next year. • December • Review your PSAT scores with your counselor. Talk to parents, teachers, and classmates about the classes you are interested in taking for next school year.

  9. January • Re-evaluate your high school plan to make sure you are on track for graduation. Review your course selections to make sure you are meeting college requirements. Pick up review materials for the ACT and SAT exams and start using them. Sign up to take the ACT and /or SAT college entrance exams. • February • Continue reviewing for the ACT and SAT exams. Work on getting good grades to raise your GPA. • March • Use AZCIS to explore post secondary school majors and choices. Start narrowing your choices. You should have at least three or four choices.

  10. April • Register to take the ACT and/or SAT college entrance exams in May and June. • May-June-July • Find a summer job that will boost your skills or your savings. Start researching scholarships. You can use AZCIS or go online to www.fastaid.com, www.finaid.com and www.usnews.com.
