What would you tell people about Ilkeston? • Market town • Rural-urban fringe • Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border • Located between Nottingham and Derby • Population 38,000 • Limited ethnic diversity- majority of the population is white and British • Ex industrial settlement- primary – coaling mining, secondary, steel production and textiles. • Employment services/ tertiary related- largest employer is Tesco.
